LucasFilm and MachineGames, with the support of Bethesda’s Todd Howard as executive producer, is bringing gamers the next iteration of Indiana Jones. Little information is known about this upcoming game, as Bethesda & MachineGames focus on other titles like Starfield and Wolfenstein: Young Blood.

LucasFilm has stated that Indiana Jones is an original, standalone game that focuses on the height of this adventurer’s career. Therefore, Indiana Jones won’t be an overaged man like in the upcoming film with Harrison Ford.

Is Indiana Jones Coming Out In 2023-2024?

Rumors have suggested that MachineGames, Bethesda, and LucasFilm want to release Indiana Jones alongside the fifth installment of the movie franchise. This would allow the three companies to double down on product marketing and increase the potential of Indiana Jones selling on next-generation consoles.

Indiana Jones 5 is slated to release on June 30th, 2023. This would place the Indiana Jones Game around Q2/Q3 2023. However, Bethesda is continuing onwards with the preproduction of Elder Scrolls VI.

Todd Howard has also confirmed that Fallout 5 is in development. This means Bethesda’s Todd Howard is overseeing three serious projects, which could cause delays with the Indiana Jones Game. Therefore, we anticipate a release date for Q4 2023/Q1 2024.

Game Setting, Story, And Everything We Know About Indiana Jones So Far | All Leaks & Rumors

Bethesda and MachineGames provided hidden details in the announcement trailer of Indiana Jones. Like the adventurer himself, these details had to be uncovered by fans. Initially, it was noticed that Indiana Jones has a plane ticket to Rome in 1937. This places Indiana Jones between the timelines of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “The Last Crusade”.

1937 Rome was controlled by Benito Mussolini, an Italian fascist known for adopting Nazi Party beliefs. It’s expected that this ruthless leader will play a minor to prominent role in Indiana Jones, as the announcement trailer suggests Indiana Jones is heading towards Vatican City.

The announcement trailer continued onwards by showing various textbooks like Ancient Circles, Forbidden Stones, and Myths That Made. These descriptive novels indicate that Indiana Jones is pursuing another catholic relic of religious value, which would suit the historic nature of ancient Rome.

Unfortunately, there isn’t anything else known about this upcoming reboot of Indiana Jones, as MachineGames and Bethesda Studios have confirmed that it will be some time before any additional information is released. This is suggestive that Indiana Jones has only begun its preproduction phase.

Is Indiana Jones Exclusive To The Xbox Series X/S And PC?

Bethesda Game Studios was purchased by Microsoft in 2020, with the acquisition being finalized on March 9th, 2021.

Since the finalization of this acquisition, Bethesda’s upcoming games have become exclusive to the Xbox Series X/S and PC. It stands to reason that Indiana Jones will follow suit, meaning that anyone with a PS5 won’t be capable of playing this game.

Is Indiana Jones Part Of The Game Pass On Xbox?

Microsoft and Bethesda have confirmed that Starfield is an Xbox Series X/S exclusive, with additional support for the PC. It’s launching as a day-one exclusive for the Xbox Game Pass, as should the Indiana Jones game.

We’re calling this the Game Pass Wars, and Xbox is winning right now. PlayStation will need to massively upgrade their PS+ Extra and Premium subscriptions if they’re to compete against Microsoft. The reality is that Bethesda is launching the following games for free as day-one exclusives to Xbox.

Will PlayStation be able to compete? We’re starting to wonder.

Game Trailer

The announcement trailer for Indiana Jones is only 33-seconds long, and everything shown is cinematic. There isn’t any indication of the gameplay or level design, meaning that a great deal of this game remains in the dark. But don’t worry, Bethesda Game Studios won’t leave us wondering for too long. We’ll eventually get more information on Indiana Jones.

We'd recommend watching the trailer through Bethesda's Twitter account.

Game System Requirements

Similar to Elder Scrolls VI, we’re incapable of providing a reliable account of game system requirements for Indiana Jones. Either way, everyone will need to upgrade their CPUs and GPUs to experience Bethesda’s Indiana Jones at its highest quality.
