Archangel Studios, the developer of new Souls-like game Bleak Faith: Forsaken, faces allegations of directly stealing from Elden Ring.
Bleak Faith: Forsaken, an indie Souls-like game, has faced significant criticism for allegedly plagiarizing animations from Elden Ring.
Following its release on PC on March 10, 2023, a Twitter user named Meowmaritus shared a video comparing the two games' animations side-by-side, which appeared strikingly similar.

Despite the accusations, Archangel Studios, the developer of Bleak Faith, denies the allegations and instead attributes certain assets used in the game to the Epic Marketplace.

Developer Archangel Studios has been accused of using animations from Elden Ring in its game without permission.

The accusations were made by Dark Souls modder Meowmaritus, who claimed that Archangel used their software, DS Anim Studio, to export animations from Elden Ring.
However, Archangel denied the accusations, stating that any animations not made in-house were purchased from the Epic Marketplace and were available to the public.
Archangel also said that it had not received any word from Epic Games about any stolen animations.
Meowmaritus acknowledged Archangel's response but still expressed displeasure at the person who uploaded the assets.
The controversy has resulted in the assets being pulled from sale on the Epic Marketplace. Bleak Faith: Forsaken launched on PC last week and features dark fantasy visuals and gruelling combat reminiscent of FromSoftware's games.
