The Turtles are back! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will get a new game for PC and consoles. It will be called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge and show the Turtles in a 2D side-scolling beat’em up.

It’s been a hot second since the TMNT got a stand-alone game that wasn’t on mobile. 5 years after 'Mutants in Manhattan' was released, publisher Dotemu and developer Tribute Games announced their new project. If you are a Ninjas fan like us, you’ll probably be dying to know more about the game, so let’s get to it.

What Kind of Game Will the New TMNT Title Be?

The new TMNT game will be a side-scrolling beat’em up. It was inspired by the classic TMNT arcade-brawlers and the Turtles theme song 'Turtles in Time'. Publisher Dotemo was the company behind the successful Streets of Rage 4 reboot which makes us optimistic this game will also turn out great.

The official story is as follows:

With Bebop and Rocksteady assaulting Channel 6 and stealing super gnarly devices to support Krang and Shredder’s latest twisted plan, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge sees the Turtles battling across a righteous range of timeless TMNT locations. From Manhattan and Coney Island, to city rooftops and dank sewers, help the fearsome foursome trounce Foot Soldiers, Triceraton Warriors, and Rock Troops all the way to Dimension X!

Super generic and bland, but of course the story is not what beat’em ups are about. What fans want is fun and engaging combat, a cool artstyle and sick ‘90s tunes. One thing that we are excited about is the Online-Coop. Shredder’s Revenge will allow for up to 4 players (makes sense) to join forces.

What's the Release Date For the New TMNT Game?

Unfortunately the game doesn't have an official release date yet. We only know that the game will be coming to PC via Steam and to consoles. We assume there will be versions for each of the three most popular consoles. As for the release date we think around mid 2022 could be a realistic time window.
