RETURNAL: The new game from Housemarque, Returnal, looks really super cool. The studio, which is actually known for 2D shoot'em'ups, ventures into the third dimension and onto the PS5 with this cool alien shooter that aims to combine impressive presentation and interesting storytelling with bombastic arcade shooter gameplay. Super nice! We don't have to wait too long for Returnal for the PS5 either: the game will be released on April 30!
NEW POKEMON SNAP: Ok, before you throw your mouse at the monitor in confusion and annoyance: hear me out please. Pokemon Snap is a legendary cult classic for the Nintendo 64 that I and many others out there absolutely loved in our childhood. So naturally, the announcement of a new installment from Nintendo came like Christmas and Easter on the same day. I'm definitely extremely hyped and if you're not, you should definitely check it out.
RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE: The latest part of the legendary survival horror series looks absolutely great so far. Thanks to the Maiden demo, we know that the game will have great graphics and a really creepy atmosphere. What will the fabulous Lady Dimitrescu have in store for us? We'll find out in May, when Resident Evil Village is released.
MONSTER HUNTER: RISE: For me personally, perhaps the biggest hype game of the year. Anyone who has played the demo knows: Monster Hunter: Rise could be the game of the decade. Capcom seem to have shrunk down the grandiose Monster Hunter: World to the portable Switch and expanded it with plenty of fun new content and, most importantly, incredibly entertaining movement options. Hype over 9000!!!
DEATHLOOP: Deathloop, the new game from Arkane Studios looks EXTREMELY cool! The asynchronous multiplayer shooter not only shines stylistically but also seems to give players a range of completely different weapons and abilities, as you would expect from Arkane. The idea of giving players the ability to take each other out in a single-player game sounds super exciting. The PS5 timed exclusive title looks promising, and we can't wait for May!
GOD OF WAR: RAGNAROK: A new God of War? Yes, please! We were all excited about the God of War reboot on PS4 (2018), which not only showed Kratos in a different light, but also introduced his cute (and surprisingly powerful) son Atreus as a sidekick. The ending of God of War already promised so much for the future, and we hope God of War: Ragnarok can deliver on those promises.
HALO: INFINITE: The latest installment in the Halo series has had a turbulent history, and we still don't know exactly what's going on with it. It was originally supposed to be released at the launch of the Xbox Series X|S in November 2020 and was postponed to an unspecified date in late 2021. Still, Halo is fantastic and we're sure the guys and gals at 343 will use the time to make the latest game really rock.
FAR CRY 6: The last few Far Cry games have been a bit tedious and not the biggest hits, but when the Ubisoft open-world formula works out, absolutely terrific games come out of it. We haven't seen much yet besides the first trailer, but our hype for Far Cry 6 is pretty high due to an exciting scenario and a surely terrific performance by the always-great Giancarlo Esposito.
HORIZON: FORBIDDEN WEST: The predecessor, Horizon: Zero Dawn was a big surprise for many: on the one hand, the game had a much better story than you could have expected from the makers of Killzone. On the other hand, it was also one of the better open-world titles in recent years. Plus, with its sci-fi scenario full of robo-dinos, it still has one of the coolest video game worlds. Of course, we are extremely hyped for the new spin-off, especially after the very nice first trailer.
BATTLEFIELD 6: Yes, Battlefield 6 hasn't been officially announced yet, but as we have already covered, it has been confirmed for 2021. And we are hyped! The latest Battlefield game, Battlefield V, wasn't the best game in the series, but the Battlefield formula is still unique and just really awesome. If EA can deliver on even half of their promises, we could be in for something big here.
2020 was a terrible year in many respects. But: it was a very good year for Gaming! And here at EarlyGame, we have hope that it will be the same for 2021. So... the thing about games, we mean. Many games don't have an exact release date yet, and because of the Covid pandemic, anything can change at any time. That being said, we'd like to share with you the Top 10 games in 2021 we are HYPED for! So sit back and enjoy these cool games.
