The GOG Winter sale began on Wednesday, December 13 at 4am PT (11am ET / 3pm GMT / 4pm CET). Yes, it's already begun. And you have a decent amount of time to hop on and browse the selection of offers.

The GOG Winter sale will last for just over three weeks until Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 5pm PT (8pm ET / 11pm GMT / 12pm CET). So don't miss out, find yourself some great games and get a bargain!

GOG Winter Sale: Top 10 Deals

There are hundreds of games to choose from, but here are some of the biggest hits:

10. Cyberpunk (-50% / $32)

Cyberpunk has improved massively since launch. The game was in an unacceptable state when it came out, especially when compared with the marketing. But with all the improvements they've made, and with the recent Cyberpunk 2.0 Update, I can finally recommend this deal in good faith.

9. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition (-80% / $9)

Okay, we get it, you've probably already bought Skyrim multiple times in the past. But if you never bought the DLCs, the Special edition of Skyrim comes with all game add-ons, and it's only nine dollars.

And if you haven't played Skyrim at all before (somehow), you owe it to yourself to at least try it once.

8. Yakuza Complete Series (-75% / $30)

The amount of game you're getting for your dollar easily makes this deal worthy of the top ten. The Complete Series includes no less than seven full games, many of them only recently released on PC:

• Yakuza Kiwami (2019 / 80 on Metacritic)
• Yakuza Kiwami 2 (2019 / 85 on Metacritic)
• Yakuza 3 Remastered (2021 / 77 on Metacritic)

The one obvious downside to this deal is that while it would be great for someone who doesn't own any Yakuza games, they would have to make a big commitment on their first purchase into the franchise. But given how generally well-made Yakuza games are, I would expect the vast majority of people who are even slightly compelled by the idea of playing as a member of the Yakuza to get their moneys worth. These are fun games.

7. Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition (-80% / $9)

As I explain further down in the list (spoiler alert), the Divinity franchise is what Larian were working on before Baldur's Gate 3. The recent Divinity games are very similar to BG3, but they also have a lot of their own quirks that you might come to love. That said, while Divinity: Original Sin is worth it for only $9, I can see it being less appealing to BG3 fans than Divinity: Original Sin 2 will be.

By Divinity 2 Larian were starting to do a lot of the things fans love about BG3, with more emphasis on well-written characters, interpersonal relationships and player agency. In Divinity: Original Sin, there is far less of this, and a lot more "go kill monsters". In fact, the first non-combat encounter you have to deal with (a murder mystery in the opening town, Cyseal) is so poorly done that it will turn a lot of players off the game completely. But if you are in it for the combat, just use a walkthrough for the more annoying quests, and you're sure to have a blast.

6. Terraria (-50% / $5.50)

Terraria is one of the best-selling video games of all time and has sold over 44 million copies. I know commercial success is a very uninspired way to look at games, but if nothing else, that has to be worth a shot for five dollars.

It's a 2D sandbox that will see you exploring a procedurally generated world, collecting resources, upgrading your gear, and fighting bad guys. What more could you want?

5. Shadow Tactics: Anniversary Bundle (-75% / $14)

The studio behind Shadow Tactics, Mimimi games, are sadly winding down. But in the last few years, they've made some of the best real-time tactical games on the market. They made one with cowboys, one with pirates, and another with ninjas, which is Shadow Tactics. All three are great, but I think Shadow Tactics has the most cohesive theme, and it got a pretty meaty DLC, which is included in this bundle.

4. Kingdom Come: Deliverance Royal Edition (-80% / $9)

Kingdom Come won't be remembered as one of the best RPGs, largely because it's such a love it or hate it game, but for those who can enjoy the bizarre and often hilarious experience it offers, it's absolutely worth $10. We think it's worth watching a few videos of the game to see if it's your thing, but some of you will fall in love with Kingdom Come's hyperrealistic approach to medieval life (you literally can't read when you start the game, and you're absolutely dog compared to even the most basic town guard).

3. Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition (-67% / $7)

We don't need to explain why Fallout: New Vegas is so good. This is one of the most highly-regarded RPGs ever made. Now, it is going to feel somewhat dated in 2023, but we still wanted to rank this deal quite highly because the price is just so damn good.

2. XCOM 2 (-95% / $2.50)

Okay, XCOM won't be for everyone. But if you are a fan of turn-based strategy games, XCOM 2 is one of the best titles ever made in this genre, and it's packed full of content. Plus, $2.50 is absurdly cheap. You've probably spent more than that on food today already.

1. Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition (-70% / $15)

A ton of people fell in love with Baldur's Gate 3 this year, and a great many of them were new to the genre and the work of developers at Larian. If you're one of those people, I can't recommend Divinity 2 highly enough.

There are lots of systems you'll be familiar with from BG3 that were clearly in their infancy in Divinity 2, when Larian were still mastering their craft. And admittedly the class and combat systems are a little different, and you don't get nearly as much writing or voice acting, but it's the closest game out there to BG3 in how it plays.
