LoL: Players Reveal The Most Forgettable Champions Upon Release

Some League of Legends champions are released and only a week after they're completely forgotten, but which champions had the worst debuts on Summoner's Rift?

Some League of Legends champions are released and then subsequently forgotten immediately. There can be multiple reasons behind this. Either players don't resonate with the lore or world building, or they just don't enjoy the kit of the champion.

So, which are the champions most players forgot about, the moment they were released? A hot discussion on Reddit took place, but a few champions came out as clear winners.

LoL Champions Most Forgotten After Release

Rell

Who was the least hyped champion release you remember? by u/AlfredBarnes in leagueoflegends

The first champion has got to be Rell. Bringing in a new tank support was a good idea, but she just didn't work. Everything Rell did, another tank support just did better, so what was the point of playing her, right?

Her kit and lore was not exciting, which made many players forget about her right as she was released. She wasn't picked, nor was she banned, and it got to the point, where two-years after her debut she already needed a mid-scope update to fix her.

Nilah

Another champion that rarely gets any attention, to this day, since her debut is Nilah. Sure, her XP share is crazy and had some people hyped, but it just didn't seem to be enough to keep players interested. She was supposed to replace picks like Yasuo in the bot lane, but she continues to struggle.

Players felt that Nilah was just a melee version of Samira and that her animations didn't look fluid or nice. So, it seems that she's also too much of a specialty pick in the bot lane to become something iconic on Summoner's Rift, with ADC mains preferring traditional marksmen.

Milio

Milio is another new champion some players have completely forgotten about once he was released. Sure, there was a short stint where he was completely OP in pro play, but after he was nerfed and cut out of the pro champion pool he's been forgotten ever since.

One of the core reasons fans believe a champion like Milio was not able to establish himself is not because of the abilities or his kit, but also has to do with his lore. With Milio being from Ixtal, there doesn't seem to be much that can be done with his lore or elaborated upon, which also threw some players off.

Community Split On Kit Vs Lore

Some players believe that the reasons these champions weren't able to establish themselves in League of Legends was because of their lore and their stories. With Riot shifting away from the Universe Page and written short stories, it feels like it's become harder to get to know characters and their regions, hence why a bond between player and champion cannot be built.

On the other hand, a lot of players also feel that the most important part is the kit of a champion and if that doesn't resonate with them, then they won't play them in the game.

We have examples of both these issues in our list, but what are the least memorable champions you've encountered – or rather not encountered? Mine has got to be Nilah.
