Risk of Rain 2's Second Expansion Finally Got A Proper Reveal Trailer

Following up on the first cryptic teaser of the game's new DLC a few days ago, Gearbox have given us a first glimpse of its storyline and gameplay.

Just a few days after a teaser trailer and Steam store page for the second Risk of Rain 2 expansion were published (with neither telling us much) Gearbox have now given us a lot more to go on.

A new announcement trailer finally reveals the DLC's actual name: "Seekers of the Storm"! The trailer also shows off the DLC's story premise and main antagonist, so if you're especially into the game's lore it's definitely worth watching:

This trailer was revealed during the "Festival of Gup Showcase", a livestreaming event celebrating the Risk of Rain franchise. It also included a short dev diary video for Seekers of the Storm, showing off some gameplay footage of the DLC and mentioning that it will include more survivors, items, stages, and Night variations of stages that have different layouts than the regular versions.

In other words, this expansion seems to have everything a Risk of Rain 2 fan could ask for and then some! That said, the game's original developers, Hopoo Games, are no longer involved in the franchise, so this DLC is all Gearbox. Whether they can follow up Hopoo's work on their own in a way that will actually satisfy Risk of Rain fans remains to be seen.

Still, I'm optimistic. Gearbox already had a hand in designing the game's first DLC, Survivors of the Void, so they're far from inexperienced with the franchise. I'm pretty confident that they'll be able to make Risk of Rain 2 even more of a blast to play. Seekers of the Storm doesn't have a release date yet, but with how much of the DLC was already shown off I'm sure we won't have to wait too long.
