The Perfect Couple From Netflix: Everything We Know So Far

If you enjoyed the show You (at least the early seasons), then we expect you'll also be a fan of The Perfect Couple, which is coming to Netflix soon. The show will feature Nicole Kidman, and is based on a bestselling novel of the same name by Elin Hilderbrand. Here is everything we know so far.

With the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes now behind us, filming has resumed on the next big hit from Netflix: The Perfect Couple. Okay, maybe "the next big hit" is a bit of a stretch, but we expect the show will be very popular. It's based on this novel , and here is the elevator pitch:

A weatlhy couple are about to get married. Hours before the ceremony a body is found nearby. The police chief arrives, considers everyone at the wedding a potential suspect, and begins interviewing the guests. Secrets unfold, we learn that the couple are less-than-perfect, drama ensues.

Don't expect a masterpiece, but the intrigue should be compelling enough (as Hilderbrand's own publisher once wrote, she's "queen of the summer beach read", which was apparently well-meant).

The Perfect Couple Release Date Expectation

We don't have an official release date for the show yet, but we expect all six episodes of The Perfect Couple to be released in 2024. The show was heavily disrupted by the WGA Strike in particular this year, but they began filming again almost immediately after that whole debacle was resolved in September.

In fact, at least according to Deadline, Netflix were so insistent on getting this project made that they were even trying to film b-roll during the strike to make up for lost time. We haven't been able to independently verify this, however.

The Perfect Couple Plot

How much do you want to be spoiled? This TV show is an adaption of a book, so we can reveal the entire plot now. The show might make a few creative changes, but we expect it to stay faithful to the source material.

The Perfect Couple is a murder mystery set on the picturesque Nantucket Island. The story centers around a lavish wedding weekend for the wealthy Winbury family, but the festivities take a shocking turn when the maid of honor discovers a dead body in the ocean on the morning of the wedding. The revelation sends shockwaves through the island community, and Chief of Police Ed Kapenash is tasked with unraveling the mystery. As Ed investigates, he delves into the secrets and hidden tensions among the wedding guests, including the bride, the groom, their families, and close friends. At this point we can expect dozens of flashbacks that reveal complex relationships, betrayals, and long-buried truths.

Does it sound like your kind of show? Then stay tuned; we'll update this article as soon as we have an official release date for you.
