Spider-Man 4 is coming, and it's not a joke. Even though we all thought Tom Holland would retire from the friendly neighborhood job, he seems to be back for another one next year. As it was recently revealed at CinemaCon, the fourth Spider-Man movie will be released between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2026.

Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day Is Coming!

Tom Holland is returning for the fourth Spider-Man movie! As it turns out, the movie will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously worked on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. It also appears that this movie will have a very different vibe to it than the first three. This part appears to be starting a new chapter rather than continuing the “Homecoming” trilogy, with Holland previously stating any future films would be "tonally different.”

Release Date

Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day will be released on July 31, 2026 and therefore hit the big screen right after Avengers: Doomsday.

Plot

Although official details about the upcoming Spider-Man film remain scarce with no trailers yet available, Marvel fans can look to the comics for potential storyline clues. The rumored title "Brand New Day" references a significant 2008 comic arc where Peter Parker had to rebuild his life after parts of his timeline were erased – which perfectly parallels the ending of "No Way Home" where Doctor Strange's spell caused everyone to forget Peter's identity. This comic connection suggests the new film might explore Peter's fresh start in a world that no longer remembers him, potentially opening the door for new characters to enter his life.

Some fans are even speculating if Holland may eventually "pass the torch" to a live-action Miles Morales character, though this isn't confirmed in any way yet, it would be a cool change.

Obviously, Tom Holland will be the one taking over the role of Peter Parker. If the theory about a Miles Morales coming into play is true, then we might expect another Spider-Man actor to join him.

Until now it's unknown if Zendaya will make a return as MJ, since the last movie ended with everyone forgetting about Peter Parker, including her.

Besides that, we know that Sadie Sink is joining the MCU with Spider-Man 4, although it is not yet known who she might play. Some fans are theorizing she might appear as Jean Grey, Firestar or even Gwen Stacy, but that's a wild guess if you ask me. So, let's stick with the other two:

Firestar, whose real name is Angelica Jones, was originally created for the 1981 animated series "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends" before being incorporated into Marvel Comics. She's a mutant with microwave and heat-based powers who has served as a member of the Avengers, New Warriors, and X-Men at different points, and has a history of friendship with Spider-Man in certain storylines.

Jean Grey, on the other hand, is an original X-Men member introduced in 1963, known for her powerful telepathic and telekinetic abilities as well as the iconic Phoenix/Dark Phoenix storylines. She's traditionally associated with the X-Men franchise and has had limited direct connection to Spider-Man in most mainstream comics. If Sink is indeed joining the Spider-Man franchise as either character, it would represent an interesting crossover opportunity between Spider-Man and mutant characters, which became possible after Disney acquired Fox.
