With this quest, Dragon's Dogma 2 shows what it likes to do: Not take you by the hand and lead you through. A Beggar's Tale will not give you a quest marker or additional information, so we will tell you what to do.

You can get the quest once you enter the town of Vernworth. Go to the marketplace in the center of town where you will find the Dragon Well. Directly in front of it is a beggar who tells rousing stories to his audience - which consists of one man.

Talk to the Beastren man, he wonders how the beggar makes his gold and asks you to watch him for a while. A Beggar's Tale will now appear in your Quest Log.

Dragon's Dogma 2: How To Complete A Beggar's Tale

Don't worry, you won't have to stand in front of Albert all the time. But you should come back as soon as the sun starts to set — because that is when the beggar leaves his place in front of the well, and you should be ready to follow him.

His first stop will be Walter's Tavern in the slums. Just follow him there, there is no need to stay hidden. Once there, the beggar will talk to Celina, his mistress, and have a drink.

You will have to stay there for a while until the beggar decides to leave the tavern, and again make sure to follow him.

He will make his way to the common quarter, where he will sneak into one of the houses and lock the door. Wait there until he comes out again. You will notice that he has changed into noble clothes. Take this opportunity to go into the house and steal his beggars clothes from the table.

If you follow him, you will see him heading to the Noble Quarter, where his wife Hilda is waiting for him.

Now you can decide whether you want to expose Albert's double life to one of the women or not.

These are the three options to end the quest:

  • Give it to his wife: You can talk to Hilda in the Noble Quarter and offer her the robe, then wait a few days before returning. She'll give you three Onyxes and 900xp.
  • Give it to his mistress: Go to the slums and find Celina before giving her the beggar's robes. Wait until morning and a guard will be outside his house in the Common Quarter. It turns out that Celina killed the beggar and then herself. The reward for this outcome is 3,000 gold, and a Noonbloom.
  • Give it back to the beggar: You can wait a day or two and go back to Albert's house in the Common Quarter. He'll be outside and will give you 5,000 gold and 900xp to be quiet.
