Elden Ring DLC: Shadow of the Erdtree Download Size Estimation

Elden Ring's first expansion, the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, is now available for pre-order. Because of the way Steam works, that also means that the system requirements have been released, including the required storage space. We therefore know the maximum download size for Shadow of the Erdtree on PC, and from that we can also deduce the download size on Xbox and PlayStation.

We finally now know the release date for Shadow of the Erdtree, Elden Ring's first DLC. Thankfully it's coming as soon as June, and at least if the price is anything to go by, it's going to be a huge amount of content.

But exactly how big will the Shadow of the Erdtree download size be? According to the system requirements, it'll be huge.

Elden Ring DLC: Download Size Estimation

Shadow of the Erdtree's system requirements are publically available now, and as you can see, 60GB of available space is required to install the Elden Ring DLC:

This is at least true of PC, but what about console?

Well, the base game requires 60 GB on PC, 45 GB on current-gen consoles, and 30 GB on old-gen consoles. Assuming a similar split for the DLC, we estimate that the Shadow of the Erdtree download will be the following size on each platform:

  • PC: 60 GB
  • PS5: 45 GB
  • Xbox Series X/S: 45 GB
  • PS4: 30 GB
  • Xbox One: 30 GB

Why is the download so small for old-gen consoles?

The download is smaller for the PS4 and Xbox One because they're getting lower resolution textures in their version of the game.

We won't know the exact download size for each platform until days before release, when the preload will be available. As soon as that happens, we will update you.

What would you most like to see in Shadow of the Erdtree?
