It really feels like time is flying by in Honkai Star Rail, because as quickly as the Acheron banner arrived, it disappears again in just a few days! Fortunately, we get a more than equal replacement for our favorite Galaxy Ranger: The senior manager of the IPC Strategic Investment Department, Aventurine!

So far, I'm not really sure if he is friend or foe, however I know many of you are more than excited for Aventurine's banner, which is why we will take a closer look at him and his best build today!

Honkai Star Rail Aventurine Build: Best Light Cones & Team Comps

As a high-ranking official in the IPC Strategic Investment Department and a member of the elite group known as the Ten Stonehearts, he is identified by his Cornerstone, the “Aventurine of Stratagems.” He carries himself with a light-hearted demeanor, embracing risk with open arms.

“Go ahead, use me as you wish, even stab me in the back if you see fit. Exploitation and treachery are simply tools of the trade.” — Aventurine

His perpetual grin serves as a mask, concealing his genuine emotions from those around him.

📌 Aventurine Overview
Banner Start:April 17, 2024
Element & Path:Imaginary / The Preservation
Rarity:5-Star
Pre Release Ranking:A-Tier
Difficulty:Easy

He secured his role at the helm through a daring bet against destiny. To him, existence is akin to a venture filled with both peril and potential reward, a game he navigates with unparalleled skill.

Aventurine's Build

In order to build your Aventurine as strong as possible, you should aim to give him a completed 4-piece Relic set, together with a fitting 2-piece set for the Link Rope and Planar Sphere. If there is no other way because you only got terrible substats, you can also go for three 2-piece sets for now! This is especially true for Aventurine, since his substats are much more important than the right set effect in order to achieve the highest DEF numbers you have ever seen!

Set Combination #1

  • 4-piece: Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters
  • 2-piece: Belobog of the Architects / Broken Keel

This 4-piece set is amazing in particular if you plan to play Aventurine with Acheron or Dr. Ratio!

Set Combination #2

  • 2-piece: Knight of Purity Palace
  • 2-piece: Wastelander of Banditry Desert
  • 2-piece: Belobog of the Architects / Broken Keel

You can get by with three 2-piece sets for quite a while! As long as you hit 4000 DEF, there are basically no rules anyway!

Aventurine's Best Stats

In Aventurine's case, the correct (sub)stats are maybe even a little more significant than choosing the correct set! You should aim for the following stats:

  1. Body: DEF% → Crit RATE / DMG
  2. Boots: SPD
  3. Planar Sphere: DEF% → Elemental DMG Bonus
  4. Link Rope: DEF%
  5. Overall Prio: DEF% (until you hit 4000) → SPD → Crit DMG / RATE → Effect RES

It really does look a little excessive but trust me, you want that much DEF since it converts straight into crit value due to Aventurine's third ascension ability!

  • For every 100 of Aventurine’s DEF that exceeds 1600, increases his own CRIT Rate by 2%, up to a maximum increase of 48%.

Because of that cool feature, there is basically nothing like “too much DEF” for Aventurine, and diminishing returns hits much later than with other characters who stack one certain stat!

Aventurine's Light Cones

Another crucial part of Aventurine's build is of course his Light Cone! Especially if you struggle to reach the 4000 DEF, you can potentially make up at least some of it by picking the right weapon.

1. Inherently Unjust Destiny

Inherently Unjust Destiny is Aventurine's signature Light Cone and if you plan to main this charming guy, you should consider getting it, since it provides an ungodly amount of DEF to your Aventurine and even more crit stats to your entire team! Since it is a limited 5-Star weapon, you have to consider if it's worth your hard-earned Stellar Jade!

Don't worry, we will show you some more free-to-play friendly alternatives in a second.

Inherently Unjust Destiny has the following effect:

  • Increases the wearer’s DEF by 36%. When the wearer provides a Shield to an ally, the wearer’s CRIT DMG increases by 40%, lasting for 2 turns. When the wearer uses a follow-up attack, there is a 100% base chance to increase the DMG taken by the attacked enemy by 8%, lasting for 2 turns. (S1)

2. Moment of Victory

There is not much to say about Moment of Victory, other than it is a pretty amazing Light Cone for Aventurine! You should definitely use it for him, if you happen to get it at some point, since it has super high base DEF stats and next to that, also offers extra percentages of DEF in its passive!

Moment of Victory has the following effect:

  • Increases the wearer's DEF by 24% and Effect Hit Rate by 24%. Increases the chance for the wearer to be attacked by enemies. When the wearer is attacked, increase their DEF by an extra 24% until the end of the wearer's turn. (S1)

3. Textures of Memories

The only reason why Textures of Memories is a viable choice for Aventurine is its high base stats due to being a 5-Star Light Cone. The effect it provides is nothing special but quite usable for a tank unit as well. Since you can get it for free from Herta's Light Cone store, this option is also great for free-to-play players.

Textures of Memories has the following effect:

  • Increases the wearer's Effect RES by 8%. If the wearer is attacked and has no Shield, they gain a Shield equal to a 16% of their Max HP for 2 turns. This effect can only be triggered once every 3 turn(s). If the wearer has a Shield when attacked, the DMG they receive decreases by 12%. (S1)

4. Destiny’s Threads Forewoven

Now we are getting into super free-to-play territory! Destiny’s Threads Forewoven is one of the new additions to the Light Cone Manifest shop in the Forgotten Hall! Just by playing the end game content, you can get this weapon to S5 in no time, and it does seem to be one of the better choices for Aventurine as well, especially for being only 4-Star.

Destiny’s Threads Forewoven has the following effect:

  • Increases the wearer's Effect RES by 12%. For every 100 of DEF the wearer has, increases the DMG dealt by 0.8% to a max increase of 32%. (S1)

Aventurine Team Comps

Onto the last, but definitely not the least important part of this guide: Aventurine's team comps! We will, once again, look at one pretty expensive team first and then go on with a little more free-to-play friendlier one!

Generally speaking, Aventurine is a super flexible unit, and since he takes the tank slot of the team, he fits into so many comps.

Aventurine's Whale Team

These four powerhouses really do work well together! Especially because of the debuff synergy between Dr. Ratio and Aventurine and the follow-up based play style of Topaz and Numby, does this comp outshine basically every other option! If you have Acheron and don't know in which team she could fit, you can swap out Dr. Ratio for her as well!

Ruan Mei is just one of the most broken support units in the entire game and fits into almost every team quite nicely. You can swap her out for any buffer or debuffer you like! Good examples are Pela or even a Tingyun would work!

Aventurine's Free To Follow-Up Team

We all know the Himeko and Herta spin-to-win combo! It may not be the strongest of them all, however, Aventurine does synergize incredibly well with other follow-up attack units! You can once again swap out Tingyun for another support, like Pela or, if you happen to have her, a Ruan Mei!

Next to that, you can also let Topaz and Numby join this team, if you don't like Herta as much as I do!

And that warps up this little guide about Aventurine! Hopefully it helped you find out how to play him and at what you should pay attention to when looking for Relics or Light Cones! Good luck to everyone who is trying to get him! (Yes, to you as well, Sabrina!)
