We'll show you how to play Monster Hunter Wilds offline and what changes for you when doing so.

Monster Hunter Wilds was recently released and is already breaking records. Its popularity with fans is reflected in the impressive sales figures – so the only thing that could stop you from diving into the latest MH installment is server downtime – though that might not even be an issue!
How To Play Monster Hunter Wilds Offline
You can actually play Monster Hunter Wilds even during server downtime or when you don’t have an active internet connection – at least for the game itself.
Here’s how it works and what limitations you might face: Getting started with offline mode is pretty simple. Just launch the game like you normally would, and shortly after an info window pops up saying it’s trying to connect to the server, you’ll find out that it can’t. If the issue is maintenance, you’ll be notified about it.
You’ll then be sent to the main menu, and you can load your save without any issues. The game will still run smoothly, but there are a few restrictions.
These Things Don't Work When You Play Monster Hunter Wilds Offline
While you can still play the core game and use basic features like monster hunts, crafting, and accepting quests offline, there are a few features that won’t be available in offline mode:
- You won’t be able to search for other players to join your monster hunts.
- You can’t use the SOS flare when you're in danger (and, logically, you also can’t help other players with a flare).
- Endgame content, like special events, isn’t accessible offline.
NPC Helpers In Offline Mode
No matter why you're playing Monster Hunter Wilds offline, you won't be completely alone: The NPC helper is there to assist you!
This "Hunter Support" functions like a teammate, dealing significant damage in battles against massive monsters, and can even be called in during a fight.
Now you know everything you need to continue your Monster Hunter Wilds journey, even when the servers or internet aren’t cooperating.
