15 TV Shows to Binge Before the Year Ends

1-15

Finish the year strong.

TV Shows & Movies - November 3rd 2026, 17:00 GMT+1
Hart of Dixie

15. Hart of Dixie (2011–2015)

A New York doctor stuck in a tiny Alabama town should be a tired setup by now. Hart of Dixie makes it work anyway, mostly because Zoe Hart never stops being too stubborn for her own good. The porch swings and sweet tea are nice, but it is the town's gossip network that actually drives every episode. You finish it craving a slower pace and a doctor's bag you will never need. | © The CW
Sweet Magnolias

14. Sweet Magnolias (2020–)

Three women, one casserole dish, and a friendship that survives everything the plot throws at it. That is the engine behind Sweet Magnolias, a show that treats small town Carolina life as something worth lingering in. Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue run a business and raise families while the camera just lets them talk on a porch. It understands that drama hits harder when the people on screen actually like each other. | © Netflix
Desperate Housewives

13. Desperate Housewives (2004–2012)

Wisteria Lane looked like any other cul-de-sac until you noticed the body count. Desperate Housewives turned suburban boredom into a weapon, narrated by a dead neighbor who somehow knew everything. Bree's perfect casseroles hid a woman barely holding herself together, and that contrast was the whole show's trick. Two decades later the twist endings still hold up better than most primetime mysteries made since. | © Disney (ABC)
Virgin River

12. Virgin River (2019–)

Mel Monroe gets off a bus in a town that does not want a stranger asking questions. Virgin River runs on that tension between wanting to disappear and needing to belong somewhere. The show never rushes its romance, letting Mel and Jack circle each other across entire seasons before anything resolves. It is the rare slow burn that trusts silence as much as dialogue. | © Netflix
Grace and Frankie

11. Grace and Frankie (2015–2022)

Two husbands leave their wives for each other, and somehow that is just the first ten minutes. Grace and Frankie spends the rest of its run proving that starting over at seventy is funnier and sadder than anyone expects. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin build a friendship out of pure spite that slowly turns into something closer to family. By the end, the vibrator business feels like the least ridiculous thing that happens to them. | © Netflix
Chris Sullivan as Toby This Is Us 2016

10. This Is Us (2016–2022)

Jack dies in a house fire, and somehow that single fact reshapes every season of This Is Us that follows. The show jumps between decades, letting one family's small moments collide with their biggest ones. A birthday party and a hospital room can sit in the same episode without either feeling cheap. Few shows earn their tears this honestly. | © NBC
Matthew Crawley from Downton Abbey

9. Downton Abbey (2010–2015)

Grand houses do not usually come with this much gossip below stairs. Downton Abbey splits its attention evenly between lords and the staff ironing their shirts, and the servants quarters end up just as dramatic as the dining room. Maggie Smith gets the sharpest lines and uses every single one of them. The show makes class tension feel like the juiciest plot device going. | © PBS
Call the Midwife

8. Call the Midwife (2012–)

Nuns and nurses riding bicycles through postwar London sounds like a gentle premise, and Call the Midwife mostly plays it that way. Then a birth goes wrong, or a patient's secret surfaces, and the show does not flinch from any of it. Compassion gets treated as the actual plot, not just a mood. It somehow turns healthcare paperwork into something close to beautiful. | © BBC/PBS
Empty Nest from The Golden Girls

7. The Golden Girls (1985–1992)

Four women in Miami share a lanai, a cheesecake habit, and zero patience for nonsense. The Golden Girls built its entire comedy around women well past the age television usually bothers writing for. Sophia's one-liners land harder than jokes from shows twice as young. Decades later it still proves getting older never has to mean getting quieter. | © NBC
The Marvelous Mrs Maisel 2017

6. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017–2023)

Midge Maisel gets dumped, grabs a microphone, and turns heartbreak into a comedy set before the night is over. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel dresses its ambition in gorgeous coats and faster dialogue than most shows attempt. The jokes come rapid fire, but the show never forgets what it costs her to tell them. Watching her claim a stage in 1958 still feels like a small act of rebellion. | © Amazon Prime Video
Friends

5. Friends (1994–2004)

Six people in oversized sweaters sit on an orange couch arguing about a fake Thanksgiving holiday, and somehow the whole country adopted that couch as home base. Friends ran for ten seasons without ever pretending its characters had real financial problems or real career struggles, and that was fine. The jokes still land because the timing is airtight, not because the premise was clever. People rewatch Ross and Rachel's mess not for the drama but for Chandler's one liners cutting through it. | © Warner Bros. Television
The Good Place

4. The Good Place (2016–2020)

Eleanor Shellstrop wakes up dead and gets told she belongs in a neighborhood designed for genuinely good people, which is a problem since she's clearly not one. The Good Place spends four seasons disguising a philosophy lecture as a sitcom and somehow makes ethics homework feel like a twist-filled mystery. Chidi's moral panic attacks, Janet's glitchy omniscience, Michael's slow turn from torturer to friend, all of it builds toward an ending that actually earns its tears. Few shows manage to be this funny while also making a real case for being a better person. | © NBC / Netflix
Only Murders in the Building

3. Only Murders in the Building (2021–)

Three strangers obsessed with true crime podcasts decide to start one of their own, and the body in the Arconia gives them plenty of material. Only Murders in the Building pairs Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez as an odd little trio who probably shouldn't work as well together as they do. The mystery resets every season, but the real pull is watching three lonely people turn into an actual found family. It proves a murder mystery can be cozy without losing its teeth. | © Hulu
Gilmore Girls

2. Gilmore Girls (2000–2007)

Lorelai Gilmore talks faster than anyone can keep up with, and her daughter Rory somehow matches her word for word. Gilmore Girls built an entire town around that rhythm, filling Stars Hollow with diner banter, town meetings, and enough coffee to float a boat. The show never needed high stakes because the mother daughter dynamic carried every episode on its own. Watching it again feels like sliding back into a conversation that never actually ended. | © The WB / Netflix
The Crown

1. The Crown (2016–2023)

Claire Foy plays Elizabeth II as a young woman handed a crown she never asked to wear, and the weight of it shows in every quiet scene. The Crown treats royal history like a slow burn family drama, where duty and personal desire are constantly at war. The show swaps out its entire cast every couple seasons, aging the royal family forward without ever losing its tone. It turns stiff upper lips into some of the most tense television of the decade. | © Netflix
