5. VALMAR AND KAI: The tale of the Varus we know from the game (or, at least, its most recent version) is intertwined with Valmar and Kai, two hunters from Ionia. When Kai was mortally wounded, Valmar took him to an ancient temple,hoping that its magic could save him. Instead, he unknowingly released the darkin Varus, who was imprisoned there. Varus unmade the two to create a body for himself and hunts those who imprisoned him - but Valmar and Kai fight him still, together. Image Credit: Riot Games
4. GAREN AND KATARINA: Ah, the great forbidden love of the League of Legends. As champions of Demacia and Noxus, Garen and Katarina clashed in several lore snippets and cinematics. However, the early lore also indicated that their interest was more than just heated rivalry. This subplot was ignored for a while - but Lux and Illaoi’s taunts show that their attraction was noticed by others as well. 3. ASHE AND TRYNDAMERE: This romance was more than a wink and a nod to real life. While the lore has gone through a few turns on the issue, Ashe and Tryndamere have been an item since pretty much the beginning of League of Legends. This has more than a bit to do with Marc “Tryndamere” Merrill, the co-founder of Riot Games, being married to Ashley (Ashe) Merrill. As in most other things, art imitates life. (Credit: Riot Games)
2. XAYAH AND RAKAN: The Vastayan lovebirds have been released together, their lore is mostly about their joint exploits and they even have skills that specifically reference the other. This dynamic duo has had plenty of adventures since they first met and while the jaded revolutionary Xayah might have taken a bit of time to warm up to the flamboyant Rakan, they have more than made up for that slow start since. HONORABLE MENTION: DRAVEN: Yes, we said top 5, but we cannot ignore the perfect tale of love and adoration that is Drrrraven. The glorious executioner of Noxus does not lack for looks or charm, but let’s be honest here, ladies and gentlemen: none will ever be as worthy of Draven’s attentions and as perfect a lover for Draven than Draven himself.
