Most people are simply calling it disrespectful! A recent social media incident is causing a stir in the creator and streaming world: a restaurant owner has shared messages from an influencer who allegedly demanded several thousand dollars for a visit and a video feature.

At the center of the story is the restaurant Nothingman in Pittsburgh, whose owner Troy Beck posted screenshots of the exchange on X. His brief comment read: “The life of a restauranteur.” But what exactly happened?

Influencer Offers Paid Promotion Packages

In the leaked messages, food creator Wasil Daoud contacted the restaurant, stating he would be visiting the city and highlighting his reach across multiple platforms. He also suggested featuring the restaurant in one of his mukbang videos.

Instead of a standard collaboration, however, he followed up with a concrete pricing offer:

  • $1,200 for a basic package including one Instagram Reel and Stories
  • $1,800 for an extended package including TikTok and YouTube reposts as well as additional Stories

For many, this appeared to be a clear “pay-to-feature” deal which is exactly what sparked discussion online. Especially since the restaurant owner had not actively requested a collaboration, but instead received an unsolicited DM from the creator.

Restaurant Shuts Down The Offer

According to the screenshots, Troy Beck responded directly and without much discussion: the offer was rejected. Short and to the point, with no room for negotiation. That could have been the end of the story but instead, things only started to escalate from there. Shortly afterward, the restaurant owner shared another message in which the influencer allegedly threatened legal action. The message reportedly referenced a cease-and-desist letter and an attempt to have the posts taken down.

At that point, the situation shifted from a simple business inquiry to a public dispute. The story quickly spread across X and was soon being discussed on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube as well.

It will be interesting to see how this situation develops. What do you think about the controversy? Do you think the influencer was out of line, or was he simply trying to conduct business? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
