Rivers_gg, also known as Samy Rivers, has just won the Streamer of the Year award at the Esports Awards held in Saudi Arabia. Following the announcement, streamer Zach "Asmongold" expressed his frustration with the result, claiming the decision was influenced by the winner's gender.

"Cause she's a female" Asmongold Is Mad About Rivers Winning Streamer Of The Year

"Rivers_gg," a well-known Mexican Twitch streamer, is highly active in categories like Call of Duty, Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto V, and Just Chatting. For her success over the past years, she was just awarded the Streamer of the Year at the Esports Awards held in Saudi Arabia. But despite her significant accomplishments, Asmongold criticized her win, suggesting she only won because she is a woman, and implying the awards were rigged to promote diversity.

If streamers like IShowSpeed, Kai Cenat, or CaseOH, who were also nominated, had won, Asmongold would have accepted the results. But a woman winning "Streamer of the Year" just didn’t sit right with him. xQc also wasn't too happy about losing, but luckily not because Rivers is a woman.

"I'm salty because it was obviously a diversity pick because she is a woman, and everybody knows it. It should have been Speed or Kai or CaseOH, or like three other people. Everybody knows it. It's ***** obnoxious (...) You put her up there 'cause she's a female. It's embarrassing, and it's patronizing. It's not even a top female streamer, either. It's bullsh**. It's not even close."

However, it’s important to note that the winners were determined through public community vote. Rivers is a prominent streamer with a following of 6.3M on Twitch alone. She averages over 10k viewers per stream and is highly active and successful on social media.

According to the Esports Awards, the criteria for the Streamer of the Year award are as follows:

"The Streamer of the Year award honors the most distinguished streamer who has raised the standards of streaming and increased the profile of esports across the globe over the past 12 months. The winner will have consistently been at the pinnacle of streaming, pushing the boundaries of what is possible and providing constant entertainment for a large group of fans across the judging period."

In summary:

  • Stand out in streaming
  • Be a gamer
  • Be successful for over 12 months during the judging period

Rivers does exactly that. She reached a million followers on Twitch over two years ago and has experienced constant growth ever since.

She’s one of the biggest Spanish-speaking influencers and has played over 200 different games on stream, ranging from Minecraft to Call of Duty: Warzone and everything in between. For Asmongold to claim the awards were rigged just because she is a woman, without any evidence, is simply unwarranted.
