The drama began when YouTube demonetized Dr Disrespect's channel in June, after he admitted to sending inappropriate messages to an underage person in 2017. In his now-deleted apology post, he acknowledged that these messages were "casual, mutual conversations", but admitted that they had crossed into inappropriate territory.

Dr Disrespect Eyes Monetization Comeback: YouTube And X As Key Players

Despite the scandal, Dr Disrespect returned to streaming on September 7 to a massive audience, defending his actions by citing legal definitions and suggesting that Twitch had banned him to make room for bigger stars.Since his return, he has streamed Space Marine 2 and Deadlock on YouTube, racking up millions of views. However, his earnings have been limited to donations as YouTube continues to withhold monetization rights. His appeal to restore monetization is scheduled for 25 September, but it's not yet known if YouTube will comply.Meanwhile, Dr Disrespect is also eyeing streaming on X, where monetization through subscriptions and content reach is possible. During his comeback stream, he hinted at future plans on X with a skit featuring a robot encouraging fans to "subscribe on X". While Elon Musk and X's leadership haven't confirmed a deal, this option might become a reality faster than YouTube restores its paywall.

If all else fails, Dr Disrespect still has Kick as a potential backup. The streamer previously turned down a $10 million deal from the platform, but may reconsider if his other plans fall through. We question whether controversial people like DrDisrespect should be given a stage at all.
