Bro has had enough.
The ongoing cheating problem in ARC Raiders has once again come into focus following Shroud’s latest comments. However, a new competitor is already emerging, promising a strict zero-tolerance policy toward cheaters.
Shroud’s Return To ARC Raiders Quickly Turns Into Frustration
When ARC Raiders launched, nearly every major FPS streamer was playing it non-stop. Among them, of course, was former Counter-Strike pro Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek. After taking a short break from the game, he recently returned to check out the latest update.
While the patch introduced new mechanics and enemies, one familiar issue remained: the notorious cheating problem. It did not take long for Shroud to run into suspicious players during his return, and he appeared visibly frustrated by the experience. He commented:
“God, this game is so [bad]. I’m convinced Embark actually doesn’t care.”
This is not the first time streamers have complained about cheater-infested lobbies in ARC Raiders. However, Embark has so far struggled to fully contain the issue. In a recent update, the studio introduced changes that effectively disable Steam Family Sharing once one linked account gets banned. If a player is caught cheating, the entire family-shared setup loses access to ARC Raiders. Despite these measures, the cheating problem remains persistent.
No Second Chances: Marathon Sends Clear Message To Cheaters
While ARC Raiders continues to battle this issue, Bungie’s upcoming extraction shooter Marathon has already announced a strict zero-tolerance policy when it comes to cheaters:
“Anyone found to be cheating will be permabanned from playing Marathon forever, no second chances.”
This is a direct response to the ongoing situation in ARC Raiders.
The recent Marathon Server Slam gave players, including Shroud, another chance to test the game. While his initial verdict during the first playtest was mixed, his latest impressions were noticeably more positive. Still, he emphasized that the game has not officially launched yet, meaning systems like endgame content and long-term progression are not fully in place. A final verdict, therefore, cannot be made at this stage. That said, Shroud mentioned he could see himself switching between both titles in the future, jumping to whichever game just received a fresh update.
In the end, the emerging rivalry within the extraction shooter genre will be one to watch. But with serious competition on the horizon, Embark may soon be forced to take even stronger action against the cheating problem in ARC Raiders.
