"This is definitely my last Twitchcon", Emiru assures in a statement on X.

At TwitchCon 2025, popular streamer and cosplayer Emiru was assaulted during a meet and greet, an incident that has since sparked widespread concern over the safety of creators at such events. A video capturing the moment quickly circulated on social media, with a lot of people reacting to the incident.
In response, Emiru has released both a written statement and a video addressing the assault, expressing her feelings and calling attention to the issue. The CEO of Twitch has also issued a response, acknowledging the incident and addressing the platform's stance on creator safety.
What Happened At TwitchCon
During a meet and greet on stage at TwitchCon 2025, streamer Emiru faced a serious breach of personal boundaries. As fans waited in line, an individual bypassed the queue and walked directly toward her. He then grabbed her face and attempted to kiss her without her consent.
Shockingly, no TwitchCon security personnel intervened. Instead, it was Emiru’s personal bodyguard who quickly stepped in, pushing the man away and ordering him to leave immediately. Following the incident, Emiru was escorted off-stage.
The situation has sparked widespread criticism online, with many questioning why official event security failed to react at such a critical moment.
Emiru Addressing The Assault
In the mentioned video addressing the incident, Emiru shared her personal perspective on the assault, revealing that she could see security personnel nearby, yet they failed to react.
@beez_inthechat Poor Emi, ppl are such freaks. Hopefully he gets locked up. #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp #emiru #twitchcon #stalker #safety

She recounted how she began screaming the moment the man grabbed and tried to kiss her, and expressed disbelief that, after her own bodyguard intervened and pushed the man away, he was simply allowed to walk off.
Emiru also criticized Twitch’s initial response, pointing out that Twitch banned the individual from the platform for 30 days (as if that would change anything). The ban was later updated to be "indefinite."
In a post on X, Emiru reassured fans that she was okay and thanked them for their support and kind messages. She also described how the man was "allowed to cross multiple barriers at TwitchCon" and admitted she was "obviously shaken up by what happened."
hello everyone, I am okay and thank you for all of the kind messages, sorry I cannot respond to them all

Yesterday, the man who assaulted me was allowed to cross multiple barriers at twitchcon and even in front of another creators meet and greet to grab me and my face and try...
Emiru further expressed that she was hurt and upset by how Twitch handled the situation, both during and after the incident. Refuting the platform’s official narrative, she stated:
"In Twitch's statement they said that the guy was immediately caught and detained, I'm sorry but that is a blatant lie. He was allowed to walk away from my meet and greet and I didn't hear he was caught until hours after he attacked me, and it felt like this only happened because of my manager pressing for it, not because TwitchCon staff present thought it was a big deal." – Emiru
Twitch CEO Responds
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy publicly addressed the assault on streamer Emiru at TwitchCon 2025, emphasizing the platform’s stance on safety.
"The safety of our creators is our top priority […] The challenge we face is a challenge in today’s society. It’s not limited to Twitch; it extends throughout our society." – Dan Clancy, Twitch CEO
Clancy also highlighted that livestreaming offers creators a certain level of control over their own communities, such as banning individuals and limiting engagement from unwanted participants.
Regarding the incident, he added:
"What happened yesterday was something that we care deeply about securing this environment. We’re looking very closely at everything that happened there, and I care deeply about Emiru. She’s a friend of mine, and so I want to see how we can support her." – Dan Clancy, Twitch CEO
Emiru, however, ended her public statement on X by declaring that this has been her last TwitchCon appearance.
"I think other creators should seriously consider not attending in the future. I did not feel cared for or protected, even bringing my own security and staff. I can't imagine how creators without those options would feel." – Emiru
We hope Emiru is recovering well from what happened and that Twitch follows through with meaningful and appropriate action.
