Fishtank LIVE producer Benjamin Taylor beats up a contestant on his show, who was drunk and could barely keep his hand up until he fell to the ground – only because he got on his nerves.

Fishtank LIVE

Fishtank LIVE is a Big Brother-esque 24/7 livestream created by Sam Hyde and Jet Neptune. In every season, there is a group of eight to twelve contestants ("fish"), who live in a house together with cameras everywhere. The only rule is: do not leave the house. They also don't have access to their phones and only very minimal contact to the world outside, their only entertainment being each other.

Producers give the contestants different tasks and challenges. Viewers can also influence the show by purchasing "fishbucks" they can use to play voice messages, trigger events or alter the conditions such as turning lights on or off, silencing a contestant, or forcibly handcuffing two contestants together. The competition is highly unpredictable, forcing contestants to face degrading challenges while being continuously manipulated by the staff, the audience, and even each other.

The goal is to be the last person standing as contestants get eliminated.

Benjamin Taylor is a producer and a co-creator of Fishtank. He has been a part of every season and spin-off of the show.

Landon is a contestant competing on season 5. He was the eighth person to enter the house and works as a janitor.

Season five began on March 15, 2026, is planned to run until April 14, 2026 and features a cast of ten contestants.

"Let's Touch Gloves"

During this season, Benjamin (Ben) Taylor seemed to have grown annoyed with Landon causing him to want to fight the contestant. In the minute leading up to the fight, Landon asks Ben: "What's your malfunction?" to which he responds, already strapping on his gloves:

My malfunction is, uh, I wanna beat you up (…) ´cause I don't like how you talk about production, so let's fight."

Landon is visibly drunk with his back against a wall and does not want to fight. But Ben gets his gloves up, invites Landon to "touch gloves" and in the second they do, he is already swinging with his other hand. Landon does not stand a chance and goes down while Ben's unnecessarily hard punches keep hitting him. While Landon is still on the floor, Ben mocks him with : "You lasted ten seconds, Landon" and taking of both of their gloves.

Landon later stated himself that it was an unfair fight and Ben only wanted to fight Landon because he knew he could.

While most of the viewers condemn Ben's actions and judge his hits too hard and the fight unfair, especially with Landon being drunk, some actually say Landon had it coming, because he "talked a lot of s***". Nevertheless, even if Landon did "talk s***", it is never okay to beat someone up, especially if he is this obviously inferior in skill and inebriated on top of it all. At the very latest, when the first swing hit and Landon started to go down, Ben should have stopped and not kept going until his opponent was literally on the floor. Also, he hit way too hard for a non-serious fight with someone inexperienced. Moreover, Ben suggested they "touch gloves", which is a ceremonial gesture in combat sports, where fighters tap their gloves together before a fight as a sign of respect. The etiquette dictates the fighters to touch gloves, step back a little and then start the fight. Ben, though, already started swinging when the two touched gloves, making the fight not only unfair in skill and sobriety but also in technique, not even giving Landon a few seconds to prepare. Not very sportsmanlike.

"Dude, We're [...] Famous"

The clip of the two fighters went vial and garnered a lot of attention online. The producer noticed his newfound fame and promptly approached Landon about it on stream. The contestant, not having access to the internet and outside world, can only rely on what Ben tells him. So Ben celebrates the attention calling them both famous and stating many people sent him DMs to celebrate him and his actions.

I'm getting so many followers, bro. So many people in my DMs like 'oh my god, bro, that was so badass, that was so sick, that was so cool.'"

Another producer chimes in, wanting to show Landon the clip, reading one headline to him:

Brutal beatdown on Fishtank Live: Little buddy lasted ten seconds after annoying production for days.

The producers reiterate again and again that the clip went viral and can be seen everywhere on the internet. They also tell Landon that he is going to be famous now and make him shoutout his instagram, Ben doing the same.

You can follow us both because we both fought and it was badass.

Ben keeps insistingly talking to Landon, saying that they had "good chemistry together" that was "intense" and wants to do promotions with Landon in the future, who only says he would have to be trained better then. The producers try to convince Landon that the fight was badass and that he looked good during it.

The producers exploit their and Landon's positions, them being the only way Landon can get to information from outside, to spin the incident in their favor – not only by giving him solely one part of the picture of the public's view on the situation, one that let's the producers shine in a favorable light, but also insisting that Landon takes away a win here, so he doesn't hold the unfair fight against Ben and the other producers. Unfairly beating up an inexperienced drunk person and then gloating about it and spinning the picture in your favor exploiting the situation of the other party is honestly a different level of awful behavior.
