Barack Obama has once again proven he’s as comfortable in the awards circuit as he was in the Oval Office.

Barack Obama has added another Emmy to his growing collection. At the 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, the former U.S. President received his third Outstanding Narrator trophy, this time for his work on Netflix’s Our Oceans.
Barack Obama Wins His Fifth Emmy
The award was given specifically for his narration of the episode "Indian Ocean." It’s the fifth Emmy overall for Obama, who previously won for Our Great National Parks and Working: What We Do All Day, as well as two Children’s & Family Emmys for producing Ada Twist, Scientist and We the People. His awards cabinet already includes two Grammys for Best Spoken Word Album, and at this rate, the only thing missing is a Tony.
Obama’s latest win is also notable for the field he was up against. Among the nominees were Tom Hanks, David Attenborough, Idris Elba, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge – quite the competition. Beating that line-up suggests that Obama’s post-presidential career in storytelling is not a side project but a serious body of work in its own right.
