The “Queen of the North” is facing fresh charges, including torture, kidnapping, and extortion.
Instagram influencer Amelia Chelsea Aguilera, known online as the “Queen of the North,” has been remanded in custody in Townsville, Australia, after facing a new set of criminal charges. The tattoo artist, who has nearly 70,000 Instagram followers, is accused of torture, kidnapping, and extortion.
Amelia Aguilera Faces Fresh Charges
The new charges were first brought before Townsville Magistrates Court on August 13. Aguilera did not attend the hearing.
Her lawyer, Darren Robinson of Salt Legal, told the court that Aguilera would not apply for bail on the new charges. He said she was already dealing with other serious legal proceedings. The lawyer also asked for the new matters to be heard alongside her existing case, which the magistrate approved.
The court ordered prosecutors to prepare a comprehensive brief of evidence covering the various charges. Details about the alleged incident behind the new accusations of torture, kidnapping, and extortion have not been publicly disclosed. The case has been moved to the Domestic Violence Court for September 25, and Aguilera is not required to appear at that hearing.
She Was Already Facing Other Charges
The latest allegations come after Aguilera was charged with rape and unlawful wounding over alleged incidents from November and December 2023. She was granted bail on July 8, with a condition that she have no contact with the complainant. No pleas have been entered in that case either.
Aguilera has publicly maintained her innocence. In a social media video before her July court appearance, she said police found a Valium pill and a taser and said she intended to hand herself in. She also said she would not be silenced by the legal proceedings.
