The "Xinjiang Vibes" autumn campaign has gone international, bringing more than 20 global content creators and journalists to Tacheng Prefecture for a week of immersive storytelling. Launched on September 16 with a rural opening ceremony themed "A Tribute to the Land," the media tour introduced an element of surprise right from the start. Participants drew "mystery boxes" to determine which of the two routes they would follow.

Two routes, one harvest season

The first group traveled through Hoboksar Mongol Autonomous County, Wusu City, and Shawan City. Their journey offered a mix of local flavor and modern industry as they tasted fresh camel milk, walked along mirror-like salt lakes, cut rice, and watched automated cotton harvesters at work in the fields. They also explored the dramatic depths of the Anjihai Grand Canyon and sampled Shawan’s famous dapanji, a signature spicy "big-plate" chicken stew made in a town renowned for its chili production.

Meanwhile, the second group headed toward Tacheng City, Yumin County, Toli County, and Emin County. Their route highlighted regional culture and heritage, stopping at the Baktu port, a historic cross-border trade hub operating for over 260 years. They also visited the Tacheng Accordion Museum, which houses more than 1,000 instruments from around the globe, and toured local safflower farms, Bashbay sheep ranches, and a traditional dombra workshop in Toli.

Jointly organized by Xinhua's Xinjiang bureau and the regional government's information office, the campaign is part of an ongoing effort to share the region's seasonal landscapes and daily life with a global audience.
