A groom in China had to prove his gaming skills before he could officially take his bride to their wedding ceremony. This was because the couple decided to make Valorant, Riot Games' popular tactical shooter, a crucial part of their wedding celebrations.

The bride and groom can be seen, in a video shared on Instagram, sitting across from each other with laptops, preparing to face off in a match while friends and family watch.

Dressed in her traditional wedding outfit and elaborate hair ornaments, the bride appeared ready to take on her soon-to-be husband.

A Different Kind of Wedding Challenge

Interestingly, the challenge was actually part of a longstanding Chinese wedding tradition known as "door games."

These activities typically take place on the morning of the wedding, with the groom and his groomsmen required to complete various challenges prepared by the bride's bridesmaids. The tasks are designed to be lighthearted and entertaining, symbolically making the groom prove his worth before he can collect his bride.

Traditional challenges can include eating unusual foods, answering questions about the bride, performing physical exercises, or completing other playful tasks.

In this case, however, the couple reportedly decided to put their shared love of gaming to good use by making Valorant the ultimate test. Fortunately for the groom, he emerged victorious, thus completing the challenge and earning the right to take his bride to the wedding ceremony.

Valorant Fans React to the Viral Match

The video quickly went viral online, with it accumulating over three million views on Instagram in just one day. Even the official Valorant account joined the conversation, commenting, "Wait, the wife is lowkey locked in."

The incident is also not the first time a couple has incorporated video games into their wedding celebrations. Back in 2023, a pair of newlyweds in China made headlines after organizing a League of Legends competition, with the bride defeating her husband and his wedding party.

For this particular groom, though, the challenge ended in victory. He might have won plenty of matches before, but this was arguably the most important one of his life.
