Streamer Lochie Jones shows neither respect nor remorse and does not understand what he is supposed to have done wrong.

The streamer Lochie Jones posted several videos on his Instagram that caused outrage. While visiting a cemetery in Japan, he behaved in a highly disrespectful manner. He took beverage cans that had obviously been placed on the graves by family members or other relatives and drank them while burping.

No Insight, No Apology

In another video, Lochie Jones also makes it clear that he will apologize to “absolutely no one.” He does not understand the problem with his actions and says that if he were the dead person, he would not drink the beverage anyway. He then jumps off a bridge into the water, which is also not tolerated in Japan and can be punished.

Instead of apologizing, he explains that Japan allegedly has much bigger problems and mentions the high suicide rate “especially among men” in this context.

For example, he makes the following statement in a video:

“The game that Japan is playing is doing far more damage than me.“

This statement can also be heard in the YouTube video by 15 Minutes of Shame, after which a viewer left the following comment:

“Fun fact in Australia he would have been in prison instantly. The game they play in Japan, is called respect. Perhaps try it.“ (@sanjaythakkar6358)

Lochie Jones goes on to discuss Japan's suicide rate, adding that he wants to “shine a light on an issue“. This problem is allegedly “how people are treating their partners, how people treat each other and how people are dehumanizing one another”. He then expresses hostility toward Japanese women, adding that they are the most common reason for suicide among men in Japan:

“Japanese women and their cold cold game, This cold cold game involves stabbing men in the heart. Stabbing their lovers in the heart.“

Will He Get His Just Punishment?

The YouTube video mentioned above also points out the similarity to the case involving Johnny Somali. Lochie Jones also made statements such as “you want some, come get it”, similar to what Somali said.

Legally speaking, profaining a cemetery is illegal in Japan and can be punished with either a prison sentence of up to six months or a fine of up to ¥100,000. Since Lochie Jones profained and robbed several graves, the punishment could be cumulative, according to YouTuber Legal Mindset.

As we can see, gaining negative reach in this way is no longer an isolated case. Lochie Jones shows no respect whatsoever for the dead and their relatives – for them, it's tradition to leave food and beverages at the graves of loved ones.

This type of tourist is probably one of the reasons why Japan is now taking measures. Higher costs, photography bans, and a change in tax-free regulations are just some of the steps Japan is taking against tourists.

It is unclear whether Lochie Jones will face punishment. It would certainly not be undeserved.

What do you think? Should Lochie Jones be punished for his behavior? Let us know in the comments.
