Jacksepticeye And The Bloodborne Movie: Why He’s Deliberately Choosing Not To Rely On Markiplier

This is definitely a film our editorial team will be watching in theaters. What about you?

What? Yes, you read that right. There is going to be a Bloodborne movie. OMG!

The announcement of an animated Bloodborne film has taken both the gaming and film worlds by surprise. Even more surprising, however, is the fact that YouTuber Seán “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin is involved as a producer.

While many fans immediately drew comparisons to Markiplier’s success with Iron Lung, Jacksepticeye has now made it clear that he will not be asking his colleague for help. But why?

A Passion Project Under Pressure

For McLoughlin, this project is far more than just another career step. The YouTuber has repeatedly emphasized that Bloodborne is his favorite game of all time, which naturally sets the bar extremely high.

During an appearance at the BAFTA Games Awards, he described the situation as “terrifying” and spoke openly about the pressure of meeting both community expectations and his own standards. After all, FromSoftware’s title is widely regarded as one of the most beloved action RPGs ever made. And rightly so.

At the same time, he also sees the film as an opportunity. After years without a remaster or new content, the adaptation could be a “win for the fans.” And honestly, he is not wrong there.

No Help From Markiplier

Despite the clear parallels to Markiplier and his film project Iron Lung, Jacksepticeye is drawing a firm line. When asked whether he would seek advice, he essentially replied no, he needs to figure it out on his own.

This attitude seems less like rivalry and more like a creative principle. McLoughlin wants to carve out his own path rather than rely too heavily on existing success stories. At the same time, he trusts the strong team around him to support the production process.

The reason this comparison comes up in the first place is largely due to Markiplier’s success. His film Iron Lung became a surprise box office hit in 2026. Have you seen it? The horror film was independently produced on a budget of around 3 to 4 million dollars. How much will the Bloodborne movie cost in comparison? And can it match Iron Lung’s success? That film went on to earn an impressive 48 million dollars.

This success has caught Hollywood’s attention. The industry is increasingly recognizing the potential of YouTube creators, especially when they bring a dedicated fanbase with them.

Bloodborne Movie: What Do We Know So Far?

The project is still in early development, but a few details are already known:

  • It will be an R rated animated adaptation
  • The film is being co-produced by Sony
  • Director, screenplay, and cast have not yet been announced
  • The goal is to preserve the dark tone and atmosphere of the original game

Jacksepticeye himself has stressed that this is not about money, but about preserving the tone, mood, and identity of the original work.

Whether this approach will succeed remains to be seen. One thing is certain though: not only our editorial team at EarlyGame is excited for the film, the entire community is hyped, and you probably are too. We will have to wait and see what it brings.
