The upcoming Street Fighter film is eyeing major stars for leading roles.
The new Street Fighter adaptation is slowly taking shape and according to reports, Jason Momoa and WWE star Roman Reigns are both being considered for major roles in the live action film. The project is still early in development, but it already sounds like it’s going to be bigger than expected.
A New Take On A Classic Game
The film is being developed by Legendary Entertainment together with Capcom. While Street Fighter is one of the most famous fighting games out there, past film adaptations didn’t exactly impress. This reboot seems to be going for a fresh start, with a mix of action stars and big names to get attention.
Jason Momoa And Roman Reigns In Talks
Jason Momoa is reportedly being considered for the role of Blanka and Roman Reigns might play Akuma. Both characters are known for their power and intensity, so the casting makes sense on a visual level. Still, fans are unsure whether these choices will actually work in a story that stays true to the game.
More Casting Rumors
Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo are reportedly being considered for the roles of Ryu and Ken. Andrew Koji, known for his role in Warrior, has a strong martial arts background, which would make him a good fit for Ryu. Noah Centineo, who is mostly known for teen comedies and dramas, is in talks to play Ken. The possible pairing has surprised some fans, especially Noah Centineo as Ken.
Filming Plans And What’s Next
Kitao Sakurai, who directed Bad Trip, is set to direct. Filming is planned to start in late 2025 in Atlanta. The movie was originally supposed to come out in March 2026, but that release date has been pulled. There’s no new date yet.
The casting news has sparked a lot of discussion. Some people are excited, others are confused by the choices, and some don't even want a new Street Fighter movie. After all, Street Fighter fans have been disappointed before. But with a solid cast and a new creative team, there’s at least a chance this version could be different.
