The Winter Olympics are currently underway in Italy once again, bringing moments of intense competition and the question of who will emerge as the very best. However, the Olympic Games can also become deeply emotional, something Jake Paul experienced firsthand.

Jutta Leerdam Delivers Record-Breaking Gold At Winter Olympics

Jutta Leerdam is not only Jake Paul's fiancée, but also a professional speed skater. So of course she is competing at the ongoing Winter Olympics in Italy. However, she did not just participate. She won gold and shattered the existing Olympic record in the process.

The silver medalist from 2022 faced steep competition from defending champion Miho Takagi and her Dutch teammate Femke Kok. Her achievement becomes even more impressive considering that Kok had just broken the Olympic record with a time of 1:12.59. The previous record stood at 1:13.19. However, skating in the final pair of the race, Leerdam defeated Miho Takagi with an impressive time of 1:12.31. She appeared visibly emotional after seeing her result, blowing a kiss to Jake Paul and forming a heart shape with her hands before bursting into tears. Following her overwhelming success, she shared:

“Everyone saw how hard a position I had in the last pair, after a super good time. For everyone, it was surreal. It feels very amazing. Just like a cherry on top of my career, basically. It’s amazing. It’s perfect.”

Following her loss to her teammate, Kok responded with sportsmanship:

“I knew it was a good time, so maybe it was enough for gold. But she was just a little bit faster. I can only respect that.”

However, perhaps the most emotional person in the arena was Leerdam’s fiancé, Jake Paul. Just like her, he could not hold back his tears as she crossed the finish line with a record to her name and tears streaming down her face. The content creator turned professional boxer also had something to say:

“After Femke hit the Olympic record, then SHE breaks the Olympic record. Just the best thing ever.”

So at the end of the day, Jake Paul’s emotional reaction may have gone viral, but what will stand the test of time is a historic Olympic race. Two Olympic records broken and one gold medal claimed. It is likely a day neither of them will ever forget.
