Michael J. Fox Will Appear In Zootopia 2 – And His Character Has The Best Name Of All Time

What if the next trip with Doc Brown’s DeLorean didn’t lead to the future, but to the world of animals?

One of the most successful Disney animated films of recent years is back! The second part of Zootopia (or Zootropolis — depending on where you’re from) is coming to theaters and is already casting its animal-shaped shadows ahead.

One of these shadows looks very familiar to all of us, as it belongs to an absolute Hollywood icon whose new role seems tailor-made for him: Michael J. Fox, best known as Marty McFly from the Back to the Future trilogy, lends his voice to an animal character in the American original version.

From The Future To The Top Of Hollywood

Michael J. Fox was born in Canada and became a worldwide cult phenomenon in the 1980s with Back to the Future. Hardly any teenager of that era wasn’t secretly convinced that a hoverboard was only months away from hitting the market. But Fox was more than Marty McFly — he shined in sitcoms, dramatic roles, and as an author. In 1991, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, an incurable disease that profoundly affected his career. Instead of withdrawing from the public eye, Fox stayed active, founded a foundation for Parkinson’s research, and became a real-life superhero — without needing a time machine.

A Role That Couldn’t Be More Fitting

His current return to the big screen — even if primarily through his voice — has been met with tremendous excitement.

And the character and name couldn’t be more perfect, because Michael J. Fox plays "Michael J. the Fox"!

According to reports, this won’t be the only similarity between the voice and the character — beyond that, a lot of effort is being put into making the figure as authentic as possible. The production used state-of-the-art animation technology to transfer every grin and every McFly-like brow raise perfectly onto the fur. Insiders are already calling him "Marty McFox." Nick Wilde, star of the first film, may now have to fear for his title as the "coolest fox in the franchise."

How big his role in Zootopia 2 will be remains a secret. Anything is possible – from a cameo where he simply crosses the street with style, to a small scuffle, because no one – absolutely no one – may ever call a fox a "chicken."
