Minecraft is about to become more than just a video game.
Players will soon be able to step into the blocky world of the best-selling game when Minecraft World opens in London.
The £50 million (~$66 million USD) project will bring the world's first dedicated Minecraft-themed experience to the theme park, complete with attractions, shops, restaurants, and a roller coaster.
Now, the experience is getting an even bigger addition: a hotel where visitors can actually spend the night. Minecraft World, along with all of its attractions, is scheduled to open in 2027.
A Real-Life Minecraft Experience
The Minecraft World Hotel is a four-story hotel that will feature 69 rooms, which consist of 20 premium rooms and 49 standard rooms.
Rather than simply putting Minecraft decorations on the walls, the hotel is designed to make guests feel as though they have entered the game itself. The plans include game-inspired environments, blocky trees and animals, mine-tunnel corridors, and details based on the game's various biomes, mobs, and items.
Even finding the bedroom is intended to be part of the experience. Chessington says guests will travel through mineshaft-style corridors, with the hotel incorporating familiar Minecraft elements along the way. And, thankfully, the rooms will still have beds (no sheep hunting or crafting table required).
Expect A Minecraft-Themed Restaurant And Rollercoaster
The immersion will continue beyond the bedrooms. According to the official website, the theme park is meant to be a complete experience:

The hotel is set to feature a deep-sea-themed restaurant and a bar inspired by the game's Woodland Mansion.
The hotel is only one part of the much larger Minecraft World project. The new area at Chessington will also feature a roller coaster called “Escape the Nether.”
The ride will take guests through dark mines in an indoor section before sending them through a Nether portal and into the Overworld. Riders will also encounter other familiar elements in this indoor-outdoor ride that has been dubbed “the ultimate Minecraft adventure.”
