Karl Jobst sued Milly Mitchell for defamation after years of legal feuds between them.
Karl Jobst and Billy Mitchel have been in a legal battle for years now. This time, Jobst sued Mitchell for alleged defamation and a sustained campaign to damage his reputation.
Defamation, Again
YouTuber Karl Jobst and gaming personality Billy Mitchell are both part of the speedrun community, Jobst being known for his journalistic approach and Mitchell for his infamous PacMan and King Kong speedrun records and his appearance in the King of Kong documentary.
Their battle begun as Karl Jobst started making videos about Mitchell alleging the speedrunner had cheated and, more importantly, had contributed to Apollo Legend's death. Mitchell then promptly sued Jobst for defamation and won. Jobst had to file for bankruptcy in 2025.
Now the tables turn as Jobst sues Mitchell for defamation this time arround. The complaint was filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida on April 8, 2026.
In the filing for the lawsuit, Jobst claims his credibility is central to his business and that Mitchell’s statements harmed his income and audience trust. He says Mitchell repeatedly accused him of fraud and other criminal conduct. One of the cited posts is a tweet by Mitchell that says:
Karl Jobst has engaged in serious illegal activity before and during this bankruptcy process. I may take him back to court.
The files protest this and declare this statement to be false. The responsible bankruptcy trustee had already denied any criminal activity by Jobst.
Jobst did not engage in any illegal activity before or during the bankruptcy process. As described above, the bankruptcy trustee had already reported on June 6, 2025 that the trustees' investigations had identified no offences in relation to Jobst's affairs.
A big part of the lawsuit revolves around Mitchell's claims of Jobst fraudulently raising money through GoFundMe. The YouTuber had made a donation plea to his audience for court costs during the original case against Mitchell and in 2021 he made another for third parties, also in relation to Mitchell. The lawsuit specifically mentions this post:
I LIED FOR FOUR YEARS, SCAMMED $200,000, WENT BANKRUPT, AND LOST EVERY SHRED OF CREDIBILITY TO MY NAME BUT AT LEAST I'M PROBABLY TOO MUCH OF A LAZY, BROKE, AND UNETHICAL SCUMBAG TO EVER FULLY PAY KING BILLY'S $1,000,000 AHHHHHHH I WIN! pic.twitter.com/3WqEfZ0yd1

and a YouTube video by Mitchell in which he claimed that Jobst had created a GoFundMe campaign on false premises in order to obtain around $500,000 for personal benefit. Regarding the 2021 GoFundMe, Mitchell claimed Jobst took money intended for third parties for himself, fooling his viewers. Mitchell says, concerning Jobst:
He had $50,000 in one GoFundMe, 55, I think, and $200,000 in another GoFundMe... So, publicly there was $250,000 donated... He acknowledged that Notch gave him $300,000... So... 550... Let's just say 500... He deceptively took $500,000 from you.
The lawsuit files decidedly declare this as false as funds raised by the first GoFundMe were raised legitimately and used for their intended purpose. One of the recipients of the second GoFundMe testified to having received the promised money.
Another accusation Mitchell undertakes is that of an attempt by Jobst to defraud creditors by moving assets to his wife, which according to the files never happened.
The files go on with more posts, videos and streams showing statements Mitchell made against Jobst and disproving them. Jobst is seeking damages for reputational harm, emotional distress, and financial losses, the filing also requesting punitive damages.
Let's see how this one turns out. Mitchell, for one, always seems excited to get himself into another lawsuit.
Lawsuits are my art form. Other gamers win ranked games. Some achieve top speedruns. I just sue people into submission.
