Twilight Saga Takes A Bite At Animation: Fans Unsure Whether To Howl With Joy Or Skepticism

Yes, it is finally here. At least it has been announced. But it is coming, and it will wrap its cold, glittering arms around us. Twilight is coming back as an animated series. Who would have thought? And who does it need? Will it be "bella" or the series of a killer?

"Team Edward or Team Jacob?" may have been one of the most important questions in the early 2010s when the first part of the Twilight Saga stormed theaters. And the hype never stopped. The story of Bella, the new underage girl in town, Edward, the 120-year-old vampire, and of course the pack of half-naked, shorts-wearing werewolf boys had everything. Great dialogs (hold on tight, spider monkey!), an amazing story and drama, drama, drama.

Sucking The Franchise Dry With A Shining Remake

So when we first heard the news that there was going to be another series in the Twilight franchise in 2023, it was not that big of a surprise. After all, the Twilight Saga movies have made over $5 billion. They were nothing if not commercial successful.

But now Lionsgate, the owner of the franchise, gave us some new information in a media conference, saying: "We're going to go out with the Twilight series, an animated series, I think there'll be a lot of interest in that" – well, is it? Is an animated series a fangtastic idea, or will it suck?

When I think of animation in the context of Twilight, I can't help but think of Renesmée, the cursed animated baby doll that represents the sweet little vampire daughter of Edward and Bella, who later has some sort of pedocriminal weird relationship with Jacob the werewolf. You remember.

BUT, nobody is perfect (except Edward, of course) and we can all learn and move on. While it was clear that the original cast would not be part of a new Twilight saga project (Robert Pattinson publicly said Twilight was "weird", it should never have been released, and left the official premiere because he "couldn't handle it"), no one really expected an animated series.

In the end, all we can do is wait and see what the future holds. I am more than excited about the first trailer - I could not stand another horror baby animation style, so things can only get better.

The series is still in its early stages, and there is no release date yet. Until we have one, I highly recommend watching the movies again. They're great. I promise.
