Exciting Sequel: What's Next for The Hinokami Chronicles?

The reception of the first Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles was generally positive.

Fans particularly appreciated its faithful adaptation of the anime and the engaging combat system.

Released in 2021, the game is a 3D fighter based on the beloved Demon Slayer anime and manga series.

It covers the events of the first two arcs, the Final Selection and Mugen Train arcs.

The game, developed by Aniplex, offers a combination of a story mode and intense combat sequences, allowing players to control iconic characters like Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu, as they face off against various demons.

You can also play all characters in ranked or casual multiplayer mode and compete against your opponent in 1v1 or 2v2 in the usual fighter game style.

Just like in Tekken or Mortal Combat, you have to press the right button combinations to customise your character's attacks and abilities.

As with most anime adaptations, the story is only a faithful retelling of the manga story.

In this respect, fans will have to make do with a faithful retelling of an already familiar story.

New Characters and Arcs

The sequel, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2, has now been officially announced.

It will introduce new story arcs, starting with the Entertainment District Arc and ending with the Hashira Training Arc, where everything revolves around fighting the demonic Rising Moons and the Hashira training, to be able to stand up to Mugen, the supreme demon.

Exciting additions, such as playable characters Mitsuri and Muichiro, along with new combo attacks, have already been confirmed.

Like its predecessor, the sequel will be available across multiple platforms, including PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Further details, including the official release date and gameplay updates, will be revealed at a later time.

A demo of the game will be playable at the Jump Festa 2025, hosted at the Aniplex booth.
