Crazy Taxi Remake Now Confirmed: Everything We Know So Far

At the Game Awards, SEGA went ahead and dropped the bomb on fans of nostalgic games: they are remaking a bunch of classics, including Crazy Taxi. Here's everything we know about that so far!

Sweet, sweet Crazy Taxi – or as I like to call it: what it feels like to sit in an Uber after a wild Saturday night. First released in arcades in 1999 and then coming to the ancient Dreamcast console a year later, many people have nostalgic memories of that game.

The goal? Getting passengers from point A to point B, like a normal taxi driver would. Add in ridiculous shortcuts, lots of jumping and a reckless driving style I would hope you're staying away from in real life, and you've got the legendary Taxi Driver in a nutshell.

Crazy Taxi Remake: When? Where? How?

Ah, that SEGA scream... Anybody else got chills from that?

When SEGA announced the upcoming remakes of many iconic games, the nostalgia hit hard for many oldschool gaming fans. But some questions remain: When is it coming? And on which platforms? Is it going to be as amazing as back in the early 2000s when life was so much easier?

As the announcement is relatively new – December 2023, to be exact – there aren't that many details to share yet, I fear.

The announcement was simply that the remakes were now being developed. That could mean basically anything, but we're hoping for a staggered release in 2024 and 2025 of the various iconic games.

As Taxi Driver's legacy has been all over the place on Dreamcast, PlayStation, GameCube, Xbox and PC before, our guess is that the remake will be no different and is going to be available on various platforms again.

I can already hear the iconic soundtrack...
