Marc-Alexis Côté is leaving the company shortly after the presentation of the new subsidiary, Vantage Studios.

Marc-Alexis Côté began his twenty-year career at Ubisoft in 2005 as a software developer. Over the years, he played a key role in the development of several well-known games, including Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and various titles of the successful Assassin's Creed series.
Now, the long-time Ubisoft veteran has left the company as part of a major organizational restructuring.
Côté Declined A Leadership Role At Vantage Studios
Marc-Alexis Côté, executive producer and creative lead of the Assassin's Creed series, has left Ubisoft. He played important roles within the popular franchise: among other things, he was responsible for mission design for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and later took on the position of game director for Assassin's Creed 3. Côté also served as Creative Director for Assassin's Creed Syndicate and led the development of Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
His departure comes shortly after the announcement of structural changes within the company. Two weeks ago, Ubisoft introduced its new subsidiary, Vantage Studios, which will be responsible for the Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six franchises in the future.

Although Vantage Studios co-CEO Christophe Derennes had offered Côté a leadership role in the subsidiary, he declined, much to Derennes' regret. IGN reports on an internal note sent to Ubisoft employees in which Derennes explains that Côté "had his own expectations and priorities related to Vantage Studios’ creation and future."
Colleagues Express Regret At His Departure
In an interview with IGN, a representative from Ubisoft spoke about Marc-Alexis Côté's decision to "pursue a new path elsewhere outside of Ubisoft" and expressed regret at his departure.
He also emphasized his gratitude for the many years of working with Côté:
„We are deeply grateful for the impact Marc-Alexis has had over the years, particularly in shaping the Assassin’s Creed brand into what it is today. His leadership, creativity, and dedication have left a lasting mark on our teams and our players. We thank him sincerely for his many contributions and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.“
