It has been confirmed that Deadpool would be the new playable character in Marvel Rivals for a while now. Now, we know more about his role(s), his gameplay and what he looks like in-game.
Marvel Rivals just announced new information on their newest in-game character – Deadpool – who will join the game as a hero soon. While the fans knew he would be the next release, his role had not been confirmed until now, and it is surprising!
Strategist, Vanguard Or Duelist?
While speculations surrounding what his role could be have been going around the community ever since it was confirmed that he will join the roster, we only just now learned the answer: all of the above. In his own words, according to the Season 6: Night at the Museum // Dev Vision Vol. 13:
You can't box a genius like me into a single class! I'm versatile, baby!
But don't worry, he will not be all three options at the same time, which would make all other heroes (or villains) feel useless. It seems that in the hero selection you will be able to pick him from each of the three categories – until you change that, he will assume that role. While his katanas and guns deal damage to enemies as a duelist, those same guns and katanas will be able to heal allies as a strategist. As a vanguard his abilities are a little different. According to the dev vision video, he will be able to throw a unicorn plushie that activates a shield around it.
His ultimate also changes depending on which role he is playing as. You can get more information on what the gameplay, along with the abilities and ultimates will look like in the official Marvel Rivals Character Reveal video here.
What Does That Mean For Gameplay?
Even though technically the three options for how to play him make him sound like three different heroes, only one Deadpool can be on either side of the match up in Quickplay and Competitive. That means if one of your team members selects him as a vanguard for example, you can not select him as a strategist or duelist anymore. So no, luckily no six Deadpools in the same match.
Whether that is overpowered, potentially even too weak and what it will feel like to actually play against Deadpool are questions that we will be able to answer ourselves on January 16, 2026, when he is finally officially out.
