Killmonday Games announced their next game in their wacky and dark universe.

Killmonday Games are currently celebrating their 10th anniversary. The studio is best known for their dark point & click adventure, Fran Bow, which is also 10 years old by now. Feel old yet? On August 27, Killmonday Games used this occasion to finally reveal their next game: A crossover between both of their games.
Fran Bow and Little Misfortune were both great in their own way. Fran Bow was dark, gory yet whimsical, while Little Misfortune was more humorous with sad and earnest moments here and there. But how can these two games even fit together?

Fran Bow
In Fran Bow, we play as the titular character, who landed in a mental hospital after witnessing her parent's murder in 1945. While Fran is traumatized by the events, she is given pills. After taking them, she sees "hallucinations" of a phantasmagoric parallel universe called the ultrareality.
She escapes the facility and goes on an adventure in this universe, filled with strange creatures, to find her last remaining family member: Her cat Mr. Midnight. By her side she has her skeletal protector Itward among some other friends.
The game was really clever in its narrative structure. Even at the end, it is still unclear if the ultrareality was real or only in Fran's mind.
Little Misfortune
This game takes place in 1993, almost 40 years after the events of Fran Bow. Here you play as Misfortune Ramirez Hernandez, who can suddenly hear a narrators voice. While the narrator tries to guide her along her journey, she keeps interrupting him, which leads to some funny moments.
This game was much more light-hearted than its dark and gory predecessor. While playing it, you might not even have a clue that this game is connected to Fran Bow. Only in the very beginning and at the very end is it made clear.
But what connects these two characters, and how could these stories overlap?
The Ultra-War?
The reason why Little Misfortune can hear the narrator and work against his plans, is probably because she can perceive the ultrareality. The same one Fran Bow can see when she takes the red pills. At the end of Little Misfortune, we find out that she died. She is then escorted to another dimension – probably the ultrareality itself – by her protector Benjamin.
There she starts to see many characters from Fran Bow before talking to Death herself. Fran is also in the ultrareality. It's left up to the players' interpretation if Fran dies at the end of her game, but either way, she must have made it into this wacky dimension.
Throughout both games, we get glimpses of a possible war between the different realms. So maybe Fran and Misfortune need to work together with their friends to stop an interdimensional war.
No matter how Killmonday will continue the story, I am very excited to welcome these great indie protagonists back when the next game will be out. Sadly, we don't have a release date yet.
