The Sequel Is Coming

It's set to happen this year: the new Mortal Kombat 2 will be released in theaters this October! The first part was well received by fans for its faithfulness to the original, its great portrayal of the characters, and – of course – the fatalities. The film adaptation grossed $66 million and attracted many viewers on HBO Max. Fans are already looking forward to the sequel, but there's one thing that still bugs the community. However, according to leakers, this problem should be quickly resolved. We already know that one person is certain to die in the new installment of the Mortal Kombat film series.

Who Will Die, Who Will Live?

Leakers who have already seen early versions say that an extremely annoying character won't survive the first 20 minutes. Looking through Reddit, specifically “Mortal Kombat Leaks,” most fans agree: We're talking about Cole Young, an original character created specifically for the film adaptation. Fans are angry about the character because he feels forced and contrived, and he also simply destroys the popular characters. It doesn't help that, in an attempt to make the character more popular, he is supposed to be related to Scorpion.

The Community's Reaction Is Surprising

Opinions on Cole's supposed demise have sparked mixed reactions in the community. While some are glad that the character has met his bitter end and will never return, others are interested in ways to reconnect the character with Scorpion. After all, it would be a shame to let Cole Young go without a purpose. One thing stands out positively in the comments, however:

While people are not fans of the character himself, they do appreciate the acting performance of Lewis Tan, who is also the son of the well-known martial arts performer, actor, and stuntman Philip Tan. Simon McQuoid, the director of Mortal Kombat, talks about how his background helps him here, saying that Lewis is "an absolute fighter who just won't stop."He himself has also spoken emotionally about his connection to Mortal Kombat, describing how he played MK as a child even though his mother was against it. He says, "Now look at me, Mom!"

Countless games and studying game design later, she decided to write about her biggest passion (when she's already talking about it all day anyway)....
