"We'll get GTA 7 before GTA 6" jokes incoming.
We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but we’ll keep it short and painless: GTA 6 has been delayed once again. By now, we should be used to hearing about release delays, but this one still hits the community hard. The reason? Rockstar needs more time to polish the game to perfection.
Another Year Of Waiting For GTA 6
On November 6, Rockstar broke the news on X, announcing that the game would take a little longer to finally release.
Hi everyone,

Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.
We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and... pic.twitter.com/yLX9KIiDzX
Of course, it would be a minor catastrophe for Rockstar to release an “unfinished” game – very few titles recover from a poor launch riddled with glitches, bugs, and other issues. Unfortunately, releasing a huge patch a week after launch to fix things that should never have been a problem in the first place has become a sad industry standard for many studios trying to meet publisher deadlines.
The fact that Rockstar, as an industry giant, can afford to delay the highly anticipated new GTA – which was originally supposed to launch in May – is actually a “good sign” in that sense. At the same time, we’re talking about Rockstar here. A studio without the reputation of the creators of GTA and Red Dead Redemption would likely have a much harder time even making such a decision – deadlines, after all, rule the industry. That Rockstar and its parent company Take-Two Interactive have the financial means to do this is anything but a given.
The Community Takes It In Stride
“GTA 7 before GTA 6” is now a joke that’s impossible to escape, but overall, the community seems to agree: as long as, in the end, we get the game we’ve all been waiting for – namely, a massive, almost absurdly detailed satirical masterpiece – it’s okay if it takes a bit longer.
That general consensus didn’t stop a few social media managers from poking fun at Rockstar, though, and we're here for it. Nice one, Domino's!

So at this point, there’s really only one thing left for us to do: cancel the vacation time we already requested for May 2026 and reschedule it for November. Dear EarlyGamers, we’ll see you in six months for the next delay announcement! (Hopefully, I’m just joking...)
But what do you think? Should Rockstar finally get its act together, or are you happy to wait if it means a better final product? Let us know in the comments!
