Hardcore mode is coming to Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 – find out what it involves.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 stormed onto the scene in February 2025, quickly cementing itself as one of the best RPGs of the year. With its detailed medieval world and brutal realism, fans have been hooked since day one. But Warhorse Studios isn’t stopping there – new updates and expansions are on the horizon, and one of the most anticipated additions is Hardcore Mode.
For those who found the game’s standard difficulty a walk in the park, Hardcore Mode promises to crank things up a notch. Here’s what we know so far.
Survival Of The Fittest
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is not for the faint of heart. From its relentless combat to the ever-present dangers of injuries and starvation, the game forces you to think and act like a true medieval survivor. But Hardcore Mode? It takes things to a whole new level. Announced by Warhorse Studios in February 2025, this mode will strip away many of the game's modern conveniences and forces you to fully immerse yourself in the brutal reality of Bohemia. Now, the developers provided more details on exactly how this challenge will play out:
- No Hand-Holding – Most of the UI elements will be removed, leaving you to rely on your own wits.
- Lost in Bohemia – The player icon on the map? Gone. You’ll have to navigate like a true medieval traveler.
- No Fast Travel – If you want to get somewhere, saddle up or start walking.
- Negative Perks – Debilitating effects will be introduced, making survival even tougher.
- No Cardinal Directions – Your compass will no longer tell you which way is north, so good luck finding your way.
- Stronger Enemies – Foes will be more ruthless, forcing you to sharpen your combat skills.
- Harsher Survival Mechanics – Hunger, fatigue, and injuries will play an even bigger role in your journey.
If this all sounds familiar, it's because the original Kingdom Come Deliverance had a Hardcore mode back in 2018, and fans absolutely loved the added challenge (if you're into that sort of self-torture, that is).
For me, I will just enjoy the comforts of actually playing Kingdom Come without having a mental breakdown every two minutes. But I have actually seen people who (I'll never understand why) trudge through the worst version of Ancient Bohemia for fun, and they'll probably be quite happy with Warhorses' upcoming Hardcore mode.
