A recent update for the PS5 wanted to personalize the UI, but instead it changed the background of the games to ads.

PS5 owners were pretty surprised when they saw ads for their own games instead of game art. Now, Sony has confirmed that this was just a bug.
Ads, ads, ads
On Monday, Sony released a patch for the PS5 that caused frustration among PS5 owners. Typically, when we hover over a game, we see an image of the game art and can listen to the game's soundtrack.
After the patch, we instead saw ads for other games from the same publisher and old sales.
So it turns out that the recent PS5 UI update that let you disable all the advertisements on the dashboard was too good to be true. Now EVERY SINGLE GAME on your homescreen shows you an advertisement in the background with no way to remove them lol https://t.co/Nts6eCq8Eb pic.twitter.com/29p56mYn34

Sony intended to personalize the UI with this patch (US only). They wanted to enable gamers to slice, resize and delete the widgets, as well as using dynamic backgrounds.
PS5 dashboard update went live for me and it's FANTASTIC! widgets can be moved around and even resized to show MORE info (the storage widget originally was only one deck long) and it even includes upload/download. you can remove ALL promo related widgets. and officially PS... pic.twitter.com/UxHd0I9JeL

Let's hope this bug doesn't give the developer any ideas for the future!
