Nintendo gave us a nice overview of the upcoming games for the Switch and surprised us several times.

Here are the highlights from the most recent Nintendo Direct and Indie World showcase. They didn't present anything huge, but there were some cool older bundles, LEGO Horizon made an appearance, and we also learned about the next big Balatro update.

Nintendo Announce Sony's Horizon LEGO Game

A LEGO Horizon game is on the way! And we got to see a short trailer during the show. Sounds weird because Horizon is a Sony brand, but we're happy for new info. The release is set for some time in winter 2024.

LEGO have clearly run out of major film IPs to mine.

A Feast For Retro Fans

The Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase was absolutely brimming with bundles and collections for retro fans.

Caopcom Fighting Collection 2

After the amazing success of the first Collection, Capcom decided to give us another one with another eight fantastic classics, including Street Fighter Alpha 3 UPPER and Power Stone 1 & 2. The release is expected at some time in 2025.

Castlevania Dominus Collection

Nintendo are also re-releasing the three Castlevania DS games, and we saw a launch trailer during the show. Wait, launch trailer? Yes, the Castlevania Dominus Collection was shadow dropped, and was made available for Switch, Xbox, PC, and PlayStation right after the presentation.

MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics

Also, one of the most hyped collections (thanks to the re-release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2) got a release date. The game will be released digitally first on September 12, and then physically on November 22.

Suikoden I & II HD Remaster

Two of the best JRPG's are coming back. We knew about this releases for a while, but there was no official confirmation.

The release date is now set for March 6, 2025. We can finally return to these classics and if you haven't played them, you can finally buy them without selling a kidney. The collection will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

Indie Fans Spoiled For Choice

During the Indie World presentation, Nintendo gave us a few highlights from the world of smaller games.

Balatro Friends of Jimbo Update

The card game that became a hit earlier this year is getting a huge update that includes some major collabs.

Famous characters from The Witcher, Dave The Diver, Among Us and Vampire Survivors will be appearing on our beloved cards. It's not quite clear how this will affect gameplay, but it's a nice free update that was available right after the show.

Sea of Stars – Throes of the Watchmaker DLC

Sea of Stars, which is a love letter to old JRPG's like Chrono Trigger, is getting a DLC. The Throes of the Watchmaker will takes our heroes to a cursed carnival:

Awesome.

PowerWash Simulator - Shrek Special Pack

A big surprise and probably the weirdest crossover in a long time. The Steam hit PowerWash Simulator goes to the famous Shrek swamp to wash his house of all the rainbow dirt. It doesn't sound real, but that's where we are. The release date is unknown, but we are hyped.

This Nintendo Direct did not really have many big hits or brand-new games for the Switch, but it did have some highlights. What did think about the Nintendo Direct?
