Resident Evil is back, and the vibes are creepy, emotional and very cinematic.

Announced during Summer Game Fest 2025, Resident Evil: Requiem takes the series in a more psychological and story driven direction, introducing a brand new protagonist and setting.
A New Hero, A Familiar City
The game introduces a new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, an FBI agent on a personal mission. Fans believe she is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, a character from Resident Evil Outbreak, which would create a powerful emotional link to past storylines. Grace finds herself investigating strange events in a mysterious hotel tied to her mother's death. The setting brings players back to Raccoon City, the location that shaped the early games.

Release Date And Platforms
Resident Evil: Requiem will launch on February 27, 2026. It will be available for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. With the announcement being part of Summer Game Fest 2025, many expect a playable demo or new trailer to drop during Gamescom later this year. You can check out the reveal trailer right here!
Next Level Visuals
Powered by Capcom’s RE Engine, the game aims for cinematic realism with detailed character models, expressive faces and immersive environments. According to the developers, Requiem will be more story driven than previous entries, focusing on emotional depth and action sequences that feel like scenes from a horror movie.
Fans have reacted positively to the first trailer, praising the dark visuals, atmospheric music and strong main character. Many are excited to see the franchise returning to its horror roots while also exploring a deeper emotional story.
