So... What’s Going On With Elder Scrolls 6?

It’s been over 7 long years since Bethesda whispered the words "Elder Scrolls 6" into the void – and ever since, fans have been wandering the wilderness of speculation, starving for answers.

It’s been over 7 long years since Bethesda whispered the words "Elder Scrolls 6" into the void – and ever since, fans have been wandering the wilderness of speculation, starving for answers.

I want to know.

You want to know.

We all want to know.

Where The Heck Is The Elder Scrolls VI?

We got that glorious, goosebump-inducing, 36-seconds-long teaser back in 2018 – and then? Silence. Bethesda dropped that teaser and vanished into the development void. Seven years later, we’re still standing in uncertainty, holding onto our rusty iron swords and praying to Akatosh for news.

And sure, we did get a crumb last year – a rare moment of optimism: Bethesda confirmed that the first builds of the game are now playable. But other than that? It’s been reaaaally quiet in Tamriel.

Meanwhile, Skyrim – our beloved, arrow-to-the-knee-giving, cheese-wheel physics-breaking Skyrim – is turning 14. Fourteen! That’s a full Daedric Prince’s worth of time without a new mainline Elder Scrolls game. (Yes, Elder Scrolls Online exists, and yes, the Oblivion Remaster was freshly released – but, you know what I mean.)

The Eldest Scrolls

When Oblivion Remastered was announced, Todd himself with his usual soothing voice (and really great looking hair!) said:

“Obviously, we're working on the sixth chapter here, but what's great about The Elder Scrolls is being able to look back at all of the chapters.”

Which is nice and nostalgic and all – but Todd, buddy… we have looked back. We’ve looked back so much we can recite every guard's dialogue in Tamriel in our sleep. We've made it through every bug, every dragon fight, every side quest involving tomatoes and necromancers and silly gods. We’re ready to look forward now.

But concrete details on TES VI? Nope. No trailer. No logo. No map. No info on platforms, engine, release year – nothing. Bethesda’s keeping things tighter under wraps than the Dark Brotherhood. So now we wait. Again. Watching the skies. Praying to the Nine. Replaying Skyrim for the umpteenth time and still getting distracted five minutes into the main quest.

But maybe, just maybe, there’s something stirring in the shadows. A whisper of hammering steel. A flicker of torchlight on a cave wall.A promise that we won’t have to wait another decade.
