Rebel Wolves, a studio formed by a team of veteran developers who worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, has unveiled their debut project: The Blood of Dawnwalker. Published by Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, this upcoming action role-playing game promises a haunting, immersive experience set in a medieval world teeming with vampires, chaos, and moral dilemmas.

Slated to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows, the game is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, promising stunning visuals and dynamic gameplay. Rebel Wolves envisions this as the first entry in an eponymous series, building a foundation for a sprawling dark fantasy universe.

From the Minds Behind The Witcher and Cyberpunk

Helmed by The Witcher 3 Game Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who also contributed as Co-Director on Cyberpunk 2077, Rebel Wolves has brought together an all-star team of developers passionate about pushing the boundaries of RPG storytelling. With The Blood of Dawnwalker, the studio aims to craft a "narrative sandbox" that lets players explore a richly detailed world with non-linear quests and meaningful choices.

Rebel Wolves released a nearly five-minute reveal trailer that has fans buzzing. The game is set in 14th-century Southeastern Europe, specifically in the Carpathian Mountain region known as Vale Sangora. This is a land tormented by plague, societal collapse, and vampiric overlords who reign with terrifying power.

Players will step into the boots of Coen, a “Dawn Walker,” a hybrid of human and vampire. This unique status grants Coen powerful vampiric abilities that grow stronger under the moonlit sky. The game’s active day-night cycle will play a pivotal role, allowing players to strategize and adapt their approach depending on the time of day.

Written by Jakub Szamałek, a former CD Projekt RED writer known for his work on The Witcher 3, the game’s narrative is expected to deliver a gripping tale filled with tough moral choices and unforeseen consequences. Players will have 30 in-game days and nights to complete Coen’s revenge-fueled journey, adding a layer of urgency and tension to the experience.

A Story of Revenge and Survival

The trailer hints at visceral combat sequences, grotesque vampire designs, and an oppressive atmosphere that immerses players in the grim reality of Vale Sangora. Expect a mix of open-world exploration, intense combat, and a narrative that challenges players to confront their darkest impulses.

The Blood of Dawnwalker stands out by offering a fresh take on dark fantasy, blending the narrative depth of The Witcher with the cutting-edge technology and bold ideas seen in Cyberpunk 2077.

With a publishing deal secured through Bandai Namco, Rebel Wolves is poised to deliver an ambitious and unforgettable experience. The game’s official website teases a full gameplay reveal coming in Summer 2025, leaving fans eager to see more of this tantalizing new IP.

Whether you’re a fan of vampire lore, dark fantasy, or simply crave a well-crafted RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker should be on your radar. For now, we can only wait to see how Rebel Wolves’ vision unfolds – but the first bite is already tantalizing.
