In Path of Exile 2, one of the most powerful classes in gaming history makes its return to the world of Wraeclast. Players can expect new abilities, dangerous beast forms, and a surge of natural power that is sure to astonish even seasoned adventurers. With this update, Grinding Gear Games aims to shake up the action-RPG scene once again, and fans can look forward to discovering the secrets hidden within the forests of Ogham.

New Powers In The Temple

The update The Last of the Druids launches on December 12 and introduces the eighth class: the Druid. Players can transform into a Bear, Wolf, or Wyvern (a dragon-like, flying creature) and wield powerful nature spells. The Bear focuses on raw destruction, the Wolf uses ice attacks and speed, while the Wyvern form unleashes fire and lightning from the air. In human form, the Druid can control elements like volcanic eruptions or lightning, and with the new Spell Totem skill, spells can be cast automatically.

Additionally, the Druid offers two Ascendancy Paths: the Shaman, who uses Rage to enhance nature magic, and the Oracle, who can foresee future attacks. Over 130 new passive skills expand the Druid tree, opening up numerous new build possibilities.

The new league Fate of the Vaal takes players into an ancient temple, where challenges such as the Royal Architect and the new pinnacle boss Atziri await. New Vaal crafting mechanics allow players to make already powerful items even stronger or to modify their properties strategically. For example, special bonuses that are only possible through this dark Vaal energy can be added, allowing equipment to be customized more effectively to individual playstyles.

Early Access And Future Plans

Players who jump in now gain access to the Early Access version of Path of Exile 2 and can explore many features, including the main campaign, endgame mechanics, the new Druid class, and the Fate of the Vaal league. At the same time, there is still much to look forward to in the full 2026 release: this includes all planned classes, the complete story, additional endgame expansions, extra passive skills, and the final balance of all skills, ascendancies, and items.

Performance on PC and consoles will also continue to be optimized, ensuring that players experience a fully polished, Free-to-Play-ready game at launch.

The update also adds over 30 new support gems, 250 additional passive skills, numerous balance adjustments, and performance improvements. Monster movement has been slowed, the Delirium Fog has been toned down, and frame rates have been significantly improved.

With The Last of the Druids, Grinding Gear Games not only delivers a new class and exciting league content, but also continues the overhaul and optimization of existing systems. It’s another step toward the full release of Path of Exile 2, planned for 2026.
