In 2026, we finally get to play in one of the "There is No Game"-games.
There Is No Game was one of those indie titles that were short, sweet, filled with a lot of charme and – ironically – a lot of game. Back in 2015 many played the original by developer Pascal Cammisotto who later founded the studio Draw Me A Pixel. Then in 2020 said studio released an elaborate version of There Is No Game.
There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension had the same concept. You fight against the narrator who wants you to leave the game as there "is no game". During this you uncover different games from different dimensions and you get to play small parts of those games. One of them was the Sherlock Holmes point & click adventure.

Crushed In Time Is Super Meta Again
Now Draw me A Pixel have announced their newest game for next year and it is a fully-fledged game of the Sherlock Holmes section. Well, at least almost. Because the premise of the game is all about saving...the game?
Because of a bug, a character seems to be missing from the game. This leads to the game being downvoted. So Sherlock and Watson will have to investigate the disappearance of the character and in order to do that, they travel through space and time.
Travel to the very heart of the game's creation and explore the various stages of its development to unravel the threads of this strange case.
Yeah that's right! But not only the premise is very meta, Watson and Sherlock also seem to be breaking the fourth wall again. Especially Watson realizes that he is inside a "window" and seems very confused about the situation.
Same But Different
Sherlock and Watson look very different this time. While the There Is No Game-version seemed very reminiscent of old-school classics like Day of the Tentacle or Sam & Max, this one seems to step into 3D and has a much more modern look to it. But we also see a lot of small mini games.
Watson already had an existential crisis in There Is No Game, when he found out that he is only a game character. Maybe we will get something similar this time around, which could indicate a fun mixture of comedy and maybe some more earnest moments here and there.
The game will release in 2026 or in 9202, according to the trailer. Many are ready to wait 7177 years, but something tells me, that 2026 is much more likely. Are you hyped about the game? What other smaller section in a game do you think deserves a full-length spin-off?
