Fortnite has seen its fair share of glitches over the years, but a recent exploit in Chapter 6, Season 2, allowed players to completely ignore one of the game's core mechanics: storm damage.

Players who discovered and abused this bug were able to survive indefinitely inside the storm, giving them an unfair advantage in Battle Royale matches.
A Game-Breaking Bug
Winning a Fortnite match is no easy feat. Some prefer to take an aggressive approach, hunting down enemies, while others focus on positioning and survival tactics. However, a newly discovered glitch allowed players to bypass one of Fortnite’s most punishing mechanics: the ever-shrinking storm.
Typically, the storm serves as a key factor in the game, gradually forcing players into closer proximity, increasing encounters, and dealing more damage over time. The longer the game progresses, the more lethal the storm becomes, making it nearly impossible to survive in its grasp for extended periods. But this bug changed everything. Players who triggered the exploit were able to remain inside the storm indefinitely without taking any damage, eliminating the need to engage with other players or even move towards the safe zone.
So I was just playing some Fortnite, getting challenges done and for some reason I don't take storm damage?? I've tried to numerous times and yet wasn't damaging me. It was a 10 tick storm. How the Glitch Worked
The exploit revolved around an interaction with an NPC known as Big Dill. Normally, this character offers players a mission that involves collecting specific items. However, something in the coding of this quest inadvertently caused an unintended effect – upon completing the mission, affected players became completely immune to storm damage.
This meant that anyone who activated the glitch could simply hide in the storm while the remaining players fought among themselves. As long as they avoided being eliminated by an opponent, they could win the game without ever needing to fire a shot.

Epic’s Response
As expected, players quickly caught on to the exploit, with some using it to secure easy Victory Royales. This led to frustration among the Fortnite community, as those who played fairly found themselves losing matches to opponents who were essentially invincible.
Recognizing the severity of the issue, Epic Games swiftly stepped in. The developers announced that they had disabled the Big Dill quest, effectively shutting down the exploit.

While this fix ensures that future matches remain fair, many players were left frustrated after encountering those who had taken advantage of the bug.
Although the glitch has now been patched, its brief existence serves as a reminder of how game-breaking exploits can impact competitive play.
For now, the storm is once again the deadly force it was meant to be. Players can no longer hide within it unscathed, and Fortnite’s Battle Royale remains a true test of skill, strategy, and survival.
