This "Hot" Fix In Arc Raiders Is Hilarious

Devs can be very creative with the way they patch games. However, Embark might have implemented the most hilarious "hot" fix of this year in their surprising hit ARC Raiders.

How Players Slipped Through Locked Doors

The infamous door exploit has finally been fixed. The trick allowed players to slip through locked doors without the proper key. The exploit had been in the game since launch and had survived every patch up to this point. All you needed to do was position your character at exactly the right angle and the door would let you glitch through. The exploit became widely known because it allowed players to collect high-level loot without having to search for the matching key. The exploit is still possible, but using it now comes with a price. If you try to enter the door without a key, your character will simply get cooked.

From Free Loot To Fried Characters

Embark decided not to remove the underlying exploit, but went for a more creative solution to the problem. It is still possible to glitch through the door, but if you do it after the latest patch, the flamethrowers inside the room immediately activate and your character is guaranteed to die. This only happens if you enter the room without the proper key. The fix works as a playful punishment rather than a technical restriction, and many players see it as a humorous way of acknowledging the exploit while putting an end to its advantages.

When Cheaters Turn Into Loot

The community was quick to react and many players celebrated the developers for their creative approach. People appreciate not only the unique method itself, but also the fact that cheaters now effectively provide extra loot for those who open the door legitimately:

"Whoever came up with that Hot fix at Embark deserves a raise. It's the best fix against cheaters. Last night, I opened the Town Hall door just to find not one, but three dead cheaters on it, along with some nice loot too!"
"Honestly even better than what I expected, you think you're gonna cheat your way to the loot but you are going to be the loot."

Meanwhile, another user pointed out that this is probably the most efficient way to deal with the issue in the long run:

"less development time than fixing it every time someone finds a way in around having a key is a W and allows them to move forward on other stuff."

Others simply praised the patch for its comedic value above anything else:

"This is a patch I can get behind. Don't fix the exploit, just punish the cheating on the funniest way possible."

For now, the community seems more than happy to watch cheaters get cooked, turning a long-standing exploit into one of the game’s funniest moments yet.
